97 points Decanter: "The Doc's Ranch is east-facing 1150-1200ft of elevation, and according to Cobb, it is pummeled with fog. The slope is southeast facing, and Ross uses 50% whole cluster to make this wine—aromas of red flowers and mint, white pepper and wild green strawberries. The palate shows sweet red berries, lightly spiced with notes of white pepper and an elegantly textured mouthfeel. This Pinot dances across the palate with zippy, savoury white pepper and a fresh note of evergreen sap and lithe pine needles lingering on through the finish. (CP) " (01/2024) 96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The ruby red 2021 Pinot Noir Doc's Ranch Vineyard boasts a fruitier and more floral nose, showing off notes of ripe strawberries, raspberries, rose petals, and herbes de Provence. The palate offers a haunting, delicate feel, with refined, ripe tannins, a mineral texture, and a graceful and weightless feel. It’s going to take time to open but will drink well over the next 12-15 years. 96 points Wine Advocate: "I tasted the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon in October, not long after it was bottled in August. Grapes were harvested October 5 through November 3. It was blended with 3% Malbec, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot and matured for 18 months in 55% new French oak barrels plus 10% concrete—a new aging vessel Aperture has started experimenting with. It has slowly unfurling scents of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate, cast iron and floral hints. The full-bodied palate is impressively concentrated without over-ripeness, and its flavors are rich yet minerally. It has an haut couture frame of powdery tannins and refreshing acidity and a very long, elegant finish. It should be very long lived in the cellar." 95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of plums, blackberries, marionberries and red soil. Full-bodied and structured yet approachable, with abundant yet integrated tannins and a lot of earthy minerality in the finish. Drink or hold." 94 points Vinous: "Opaque garnet in the glass, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is everything you could want from a modern Sonoma County Cabernet. Varietal signatures abound, with black olive, tomato leaf, sage and gravel underscoring a core of sweet red/blue berry preserves, but this is another wine that needs several years of time to shed some of its serious tannic heft. A creamy mid-palate provides a beautiful canvas for the freshness of the vintage to shine. This is a screaming value at $75."

A VERY exciting addition to our Anonymous family, our first Zinfandel! And I couldn't be more excited about having a bottling sourced from the iconic and historic Pagani Ranch in Sonoma Valley! While we can't tell you who crafted this wine for us, the list of folks that can even get their hands on this revered, ancient vine fruit isn't very long, so you can probably take a pretty good guess. This stunning wine is 90% Zinfandel from the original 140-year-old block at Pagani Ranch planted in the 1880s. Then, completing the field blend are small amounts of 100-year-old Primitivo and Alicante Bouchet. The wine was aged for 20 months in a combination of French and American oak, 20% new, 80% seasoned. This wine is a perfect example of the ancient heritage vineyards found across California that are a truly unique and special part of our state's viticultural history. The aromas of violets and currants are so beautiful. Dreamy. Best ever? A blend of 92% cabernet sauvignon, 4% cabernet franc, 2% merlot, 1% malbec and 1% petit verdot." (11/2023) 97 points Decanter: "Winemaker Chris Carpenter says that his Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder is intended to serve as a counterpoint to the La Jota Cabernet, which is from Howell Mountain, but that each wine showcases a softer expression of mountain Cabernet, and one that is poised for earlier drinking for collectors who stash bottles of the single vineyard Cabernet wines from Lokoya in their cellar. The soils atop Mt. Veeder are volcanic and sedimentary, and two sites provide the grapes for Mt. Brave. One is the Mt. Brave Vineyard, formerly Chateau Potelle Vineyard, and the site is above the fog line on the northern part of Mt. Veeder, where the soils are well-draining, and yields are generally two tons per acre in good vintages. The other is Veeder Peak Estate. Each site is about 24ha. This blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet France, 2% Merlot, 1% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot was aged 23 months in 80% new French oak. Super fragrant with black fruits, black cherry, and graphite minerality with violets and cherry liqueur undertones. Full-bodied with pronounced tannins that have a chalkiness about them, balanced by very soft and supple fruit that makes this wine so approachable in its youth. An extended finish is marked by blue fruit and pronounced garrigue, blue agave syrup, sage, and crushed cocao nibs. (JC)" (07/2024) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's a classic Mountain Cabernet with full-bodied richness and ample, although velvety, tannins as well as pure cassis and currant-like fruits, gorgeous mid-palate depth and opulence on the palate, and beautiful complexity in its tobacco, graphite, and bouquet garni-like nuances. It's another remarkable wine from Carpenter that has some upfront accessibility today yet deserves 3-4 years in the cellar. It will have two decades of overall longevity, and as top Napa Cabernet Sauvignon goes, it's a terrific value." (12/2023) 95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder includes 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% each Malbec and Petit Verdot. Cassis and blueberries are joined on the nose by hints of dried sage, bay leaf and cedary oak. Like the Cabernet Franc, it's full-bodied and silky, with drying tannins and mouthwatering ripeness on the long finish. Give it a couple of years in the cellar and drink it over the next couple of decades. (JC)" (07/2024) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This is deep and winey, with cassis, plum paste and linzer torte notes leading the way. 96 points Owen Bargreen: "The 2023 ‘Geyserville’ is a marvelous, silky blend of mainly Zinfandel (70%) with 18% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah and a touch of Alicante Boushet. Very dark in the glass, this delivers beautiful violet rose petals alongside mocha, tar, Cuban cigar and notes of garrigue with loganberry compote. The palate is fresh and refined, with an elegant mid-palate mouthfeel and light dusting of salinity. Well-structured and weighted, offering plenty of depth and flavor density, this is a marvelous effort that has yet to fully hit its stride —- but the incredible potential is there. The combination of weight and tension suggests this will be very long-lived. Give this another year in the cellar before uncorking. Drink 2026-2045." 95 points Vinous: "A blend of 70% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah and 3% Alicante Bouschet, the 2023 Geyserville is dark and brooding. Virile and intense, this is a monster wine that’s only at the very beginning of its evolution. So impressively articulated, the 2023 somberly marches from the glass with dark shadings of tobacco, inky black fruit, cracked pepper, sage, turned earth and pine, building powerful minerality with aeration. The 2023 will need several years to come around. It’s a sleeping giant today. (BN) 95+" (10/2025) 95 points Decanter: "Just a mile from the winery in Lytton Springs, the Geyserville vineyard sits in an overall warmer pocket of Sonoma, but even here, 2023 was unusually cool and slow to start. The winemaking team states that this was the latest Geyserville harvest on record, since the first vintage in 1966. The crew was picking grapes up to November 1st. This classic old-vine field blend is always anchored by Zinfandel, with Carignane, Petite Sirah, and a few other varieties playing supporting roles in varying proportions, depending on the vintage. In 2023, with 70% of Zinfandel, the blend feels expressive and aromatic, with black and blue fruit leading the way, lifted by fresh herbs, a touch of mint, and a layer of baking spices. The oak is still settling in, but the structure is already in place, thanks in part to the 18% Carignane, which adds depth and acidity. It’s a young wine with plenty of promise, already showing well, with slightly chalky tannins, but it will really hit its stride with a few years in bottle. (ACQ)" (04/2025) 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A perennial standout for the winery that is produced for wider distribution, the 2023 Zinfandel Geyserville is a blend of 70% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah and 3% Alicante, the 2023 a highly ageable vintage with great acidity. That freshness helps to define the wine's juicy core of well-mannered, supple tannins and oak, the wine aged entirely in 100% air-dried American oak, 15% of it new. It truly offers the perfect balance of dark fruit and freshness, within a full-bodied richness and structure still built for aging, as with all Ridge wines. Enjoy now through 2033. (VB)" (04/2025) 94 points James Suckling: "Bright and moderate aromas of red cherries, blackberry compote, coffee beans and spices. The palate is full-bodied with finely integrated tannins and a focused acidity that leads into a rounded and pure finish. A blend of 70% zinfandel with touches of carignan, petite sirah and alicante bouschet, which benefited from a cooler vintage. Drink or hold. (TF)" (08/2025) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Robust and simmering with intensity, this red serves up dark blackberry and cherry flavors laced with black pepper, licorice, cardamom and other dark spices. A perfect combination of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot that spent about 22 months in 75% new French oak barrels. Phenomenal notes of crushed boysenberries, cassis, sweet baking spices, cracked peppercorn, wet stones, dried desert mountain sagebrush, and wet earth give this astonishing bottle of Cab what it needs for perfection. It doesn’t sit on the palate, it glides across it with crunchy tannins that are firm yet giving. Give this wine another year or so in the bottle before enjoying and then cellar it for 15-20 years. This impresses further with its poise and refinement, silken and pure, with crisp red berry fruits and tactile mineral tones. Rosy inner florals combine with autumnal spice and hints of licorice as the 2021 finishes long and tannic yet remarkably fresh. I would never guess this came from Red Mountain given how silky these tannins are. Wow. Todd Alexander is a master of his craft. (EG)" (10/2024) 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "My core belief that no wine can be perfect is seriously challenged by this otherworldly Cabernet Sauvignon. The saline aroma of driftwood transitions to crushed raspberry, mineral and graphite scents. Flavors of black cherry compote and black tea are counterpointed by the bitter bite of nettles. Leathery tannins and jangly acidity are equally matched. *Editors' Choice* (MA)" (05/2024) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another gem, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Estate offers up a textbook Red Mountain profile with loads of savory red and black fruits as well as loamy earth, graphite, and a Pauillac-like lead pencil character. (AG)" (12/2023) 94 points Owen Bargreen: "The 2021 ‘Oakcross’ was named after Groth’s Oakville Estate that was first planted back in 1973. This edition has considerably less Cabernet Sauvignon than the 2020 bottling —as the 2021 is a silky combination of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 34% Merlot and the remainder Petit Verdot. Violets, tar and espresso grounds mark the nose alongside dense dark fruits. The palate is bright and beautifully textured, with fantastic verve and underlying tension and weight. Everything is in clockwork balance here. Enjoy this beautiful wine now and over the next fifteen years to come." 94 points The Wine Independent: "The 2021 Oakcross, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, is deep garnet-purple in color. A little closed and broody to start, it soon opens out to notes of blackberry preserves, blackcurrant pastilles, and wild blueberries giving way to wafts of mint tea, charcoal, and lavender. The full-bodied palate delivers bright, vivacious black fruit flavors with minty accents and soft, rounded tannins, finishing with a savory lift." 93 points Decanter: "A powerful and attractive Oakville Cabernet. Red and black-toned fruits are laced with brown spices, as chalky mineral aromatics build in the glass nuanced by chocolaty-tinged cedarwood. Full-bodied with juicy blueberry and blackberry fruit notes, robust tannins, and a lengthy finish marked by black currants, creme de menthe, and earth. (JC)" (05/2024) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A well-built red, displaying a muscular core of steeped black currant and blackberry fruit inlaid with hints of sweet tobacco and sage and carried by a rich spine of loam and warm stone. Shows a nice throwback touch. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. (JM)" (10/2024) 93 points James Suckling: "A well-crafted, balanced and textural red that’s refined and controlled. Aromas of blackberries, black plums and cedar dominate on the nose. Full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Harmonious and pulpy with a flavorful finish and excellent length. 63% cabernet sauvignon, 34% merlot and 3% petit verdot. " (03/2024) Jancis Robinson: "Glowing crimson. Mellow nose. This also seems more approachable than many Napa Cabs. Easy to like! With more substance than the regular Oakville Cabernet from this producer. (JR)" (05/2024)

92 points Wine Advocate: "Aging gracefully, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from Kathryn Kennedy sport a still vibrant ruby color with just a touch of lightening at the rim. Graphite, vanilla bean, currants, cured meats and hints of chocolate all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, supple, layered and gorgeously polished Cabernet. Possessing fine tannin, a solid mid-palate, and beautiful length, it's drinking beautifully today, with a great mix of fruit and secondary aromas and flavors, but it will keep for another decade. (JD)" (10/2016) 92 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched, mineral-accented aromas of cherry compote, cassis, pipe tobacco and licorice. Picks up floral and spice character with air, along with a touch of cracked pepper. Sweet and expansive, offering ripe dark fruit flavors and notes of licorice pastille and mocha. Showing more power and brawn than the 2005 today, and I don't think that's just a function of youth. Sexy vanillin oak and fruitcake notes linger on a persistent, penetrating, taut finish. (JR) 92+" (11/2010) K&L Notes: ***Winery Direct - 20-year-old Library Release** Hailing from the small Saratoga estate vineyard planted by Kathryn Kennedy in the early 1970s, this is the winery’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottling has long been one of the reference points for Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet, standing shoulder to shoulder with iconic wines such as Ridge Monte Bello and Mount Eden Estate, all famed for their immense ageing potential. Today, Kathryn Kennedy’s son, Marty Mathis, continues to craft the wines from this storied estate, carrying forward one of the region’s great Cabernet traditions.

94 points Owen Bargreen: "The outstanding 2023 Acumen ‘Atlas Peak’ Sauvignon Blanc offers serious texture and verve on the palate, loaded with minerals, melon fruits and shades of starfruit with kumquat rind. Rich and fat on the tongue, this is seriously good stuff that will cellar well over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2025-2033." 94 points Tasting Panel: "This Sauvignon Blanc is elegance incarnate, teeming with aristocratic charm. Hints of marmalade, thyme and lime blend seamlessly. Evocative of chalky stone, with tart citrus and a tangy finish, the palate presents a rhythm of flavors that peak and cascade with a musical grace." 93 points The Wine Independent: "The 2023 Peak Sauvignon Blanc sails out of the glass with energetic notes of lime cordial, fresh citron, and elderflower, plus nuances of chalk dust, coriander seed, and wet slate. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and pure with bags of citrus fruit flavors and a mineral lift on the finish." 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Refined, mouthwatering yet richly flavored, this Sauvignon Blanc from Acumen brings together crisp acidity with aromas of citrus blossoms, zest and hay, with flavors of white nectarine, peach, and flint. An almost creamy mouthfeel brings another layer of satisfaction. (ECB)" (04/2026) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Offers an elegant, almost creamy mix of lemon sorbet, poached pear, Key lime pie and passion fruit curd. Fresh citrus zest, freshly grated ginger and shiso leaf linger on the finish alongside aromatic grace notes of peppery white flowers. (MW) " (08/2025) 93 points Wine Advocate: "Fermented and aged in a mix of new French oak barrels and stainless-steel drums, Acumen's 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Peak features subtle toast and lees notes and just a hint of hazelnut to go along with pear, guava and fig. It's on the ripe side, flavor-wise, while being medium- to full-bodied for Sauvignon Blanc, with a softly creamy feel on the palate and a long, silky finish. (JC)" (10/2025) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Clean, crisp citrus and apple fruits emerge from the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Peak, which shows beautiful purity and focus in a medium-bodied, vibrant style. " (03/2025) 93 points James Suckling: "The nose is lifted, with fresh aromas of orange blossoms, lime zest and passion fruit. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The Hillfighter, a “second label” from WeatherEye, is mostly Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, with 24% Syrah and 7% Tempranillo. I loved how its dried blueberry, worn saddle leather and graphite aromas reminded me of a mature Bordeaux. The wine's flavors of black cherry are ably backed by fine-grained tannins. *Editors' Choice*" (11/2024) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Hillfighter Red Wine is an interesting blend of 35% Grenache, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Syrah, and the rest Tempranillo, and it functions as a catch-all second wine for the estate. Juicy red, blue, and black fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and leafy herb notes all emerge from the glass, and it's a plump, rounded, wonderfully textured and forward red." (07/2024) 93 points James Suckling: "Some meaty undertones here, together with exciting notes of charcuterie, rust, olives and black fruit. It’s savory and full of flavor, with a full body and juicy, medium-firm tannins. Delicious blend of 35% Grenache, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Syrah and 7% Tempranillo." (02/2024) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Red Blend Hillfighter opens with an exotic bouquet as blood orange, incense and violet pastille give way to crushed cherries and hints of clove. This is soothingly round and silky in feel with juicy acidity propelling ripe red and blue fruits. Structured yet not overly tannic, the 2021 leaves the senses drenched in primary concentration yet still craving more." (10/2024)

94 points The Wine Independent: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder starts with notes of dried Provence herbs, tilled soil, and fresh black plums slowly emerging from the glass, giving way to a core of red currant jelly, graphite, and Morello cherries. The medium to full-bodied palate is tightly wound with crunchy red and black fruit layers, supported by grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with a cheeky herbal lift. (LPB)" (02/2025) 92 points Wine Advocate: "The strongest effort I tasted from Grand Napa Vineyards this year, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder features scents of crushed stone, black olives and pencil shavings. Overall a bit savory and Bordeaux-like on the nose, it's medium to full-bodied in the mouth, adding black cherries and cassis notes. 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another incredibly concentrated, focused, insanely impressive wine in the lineup is the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain, which offers a powerful nose of darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, and savory herb aromas and flavors. This full-bodied, dense, concentrated, powerful, inward beauty needs 4-6 years in the cellar but will age forever." (12/2023) 98 points Owen Bargreen: "The world-class 2021 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon can benefit from a long decant. Once aroused this offers black currant cordial and creme de violette flavors that meld well with the stony accents, with touches of graphite and black cherry compote. The beautiful purple and black floral aromatics add to the enjoyment as this beauty could really use another year in the cellar prior to enjoying." (11/2024) 97 points James Suckling: "So much black currant, dark fruit, pine cone, bark and pine needle aromas that show a depth and intensity with round, polished and creamy tannins. Medium to full body, with a complex and gorgeously flavored finish. A blend of 82% cabernet sauvignon, 6.5% cabernet franc, 5% malbec, 4% merlot and 2.5% petit verdot. Give this three to four more years to come around." (11/2023) 97 points Decanter: "In 2021, with yields down 30-35%, the La Jota was very precise and focused, with saturated layers of extremely dark fruit nuanced by very expressive ironstone minerality and fresh garrigue. Full-bodied with robust, broad-shouldered tannins that are chocolaty. More of that iron minerality is layered throughout, and for all the fruit density here, there is a balance of freshness that is almost hard to imagine. So, don't imagine it; snap these up and see for yourself. (JC)" (07/2024) 97 points The Wine Independent: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon has 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 4% Merlot, and 2.5% Petit Verdot in the blend. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a lot of shaking to wake up scents of blackcurrant preserves, plum pudding, and mulberries giving way to a fragrant undercurrent of licorice, charcoal, violets, and menthol. The big, rich, full-bodied palate is completely packed with black fruit layers supported by very firm yet ripe grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with a spicy kick. (LPB)" (04/2024) 95 points Wine Advocate: "A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 4% Merlot and 2.5% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain delivers scents of cedar, pine, black cherries, blueberries and cassis. According to winemaker Chris Carpenter, the blend was necessary to ameliorate the tannins for the restaurant trade, a major market for the wine. It's medium to full-bodied, fresh, smooth and silky on the mid-palate, then firmer and more structured, with dusty tannins on the lingering finish. While it should age well for 20 years or more, I suspect much of it will be consumed on the young side, with a thick, well-marbled steak. (JC)" (07/2024)

The goal is simple: let great sites and meticulous farming lead the conversation, keep the winemaking simple and transparent, so the wines are pure, vibrant and authentic. Chalone Vineyard has to be in the top 5 most distinctive vineyard sites in all of California. The combination of radical limestone and granite soils, high elevation, subtle coastal influence but almost high-desert like microclimate, all make this place absolutely unique and singular when it comes to growing grapes. What's interesting is that you VERY rarely see Chalone Vineyard fruit bottled outside of the estate label. (03/2025) 92 points Wine Advocate: "Grand Napa's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain was this taster's favorite of the three wines tasted this time around. Despite being aged in 50% new French oak and 50% second-use barrels, it's not overly woody, instead letting the mountain-derived notes of pine needles and dark fruit come through, accented by just a hint of shoe polish. The wine is full-bodied and dense but not overly textural, with some slightly astringent tannins on the finish.
