Review Date: 10/2016Aging gracefully, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from Kathryn Kennedy sport a still vibrant ruby color with just a touch of lightening at the rim. Graphite, vanilla bean, currants, cured meats and hints of chocolate all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, supple, layered and gorgeously polished Cabernet. Possessing fine tannin, a solid mid-palate, and beautiful length, it's drinking beautifully today, with a great mix of fruit and secondary aromas and flavors, but it will keep for another decade. Notes
***Winery Direct - 20-year-old Library Release** Hailing from the small Saratoga estate vineyard planted by Kathryn Kennedy in the early 1970s, this is the winery’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottling has long been one of the reference points for Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet, standing shoulder to shoulder with iconic wines such as Ridge Monte Bello and Mount Eden Estate, all famed for their immense ageing potential. Today, Kathryn Kennedy’s son, Marty Mathis, continues to craft the wines from this storied estate, carrying forward one of the region’s great Cabernet traditions.
