This special Compass Box tasting pack brings together two of the house’s most celebrated expressions, offering a brilliant masterclass in the art of wood management, at an unbelievable price. While both whiskies showcase the blending house's signature richness and complexity, they approach flavor from entirely different geographic traditions, creating a beautiful study in contrasts.Together, this duo offers a phenomenal look at how the same high-quality malt distillate can be steered in wildly divergent directions by the hand of a master blender. Whether you are looking to explore the fiery depth of high-toast oak or the plush sweetness of European wine casks, this combo pack covers all the bases at a price lower than each individual bottle. And with the discontinuation of The Spice Tree expression, this may be your last chance to grab this classic at an unbeatable price.

92 points Wine Advocate: "Aging gracefully, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from Kathryn Kennedy sport a still vibrant ruby color with just a touch of lightening at the rim. Graphite, vanilla bean, currants, cured meats and hints of chocolate all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, supple, layered and gorgeously polished Cabernet. Possessing fine tannin, a solid mid-palate, and beautiful length, it's drinking beautifully today, with a great mix of fruit and secondary aromas and flavors, but it will keep for another decade. (JD)" (10/2016) 92 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched, mineral-accented aromas of cherry compote, cassis, pipe tobacco and licorice. Picks up floral and spice character with air, along with a touch of cracked pepper. Sweet and expansive, offering ripe dark fruit flavors and notes of licorice pastille and mocha. Showing more power and brawn than the 2005 today, and I don't think that's just a function of youth. Sexy vanillin oak and fruitcake notes linger on a persistent, penetrating, taut finish. (JR) 92+" (11/2010) Jancis Robinson: "Fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in 90% new oak for 28 months. Certified organic grapes.Dark ruby in colour with a hint of tawny coffee in the highlights. Aromas of cedar, dried flowers and smoked meats. Gorgeously plush tannins provide a bed for flavours of smoked meat, dried flowers, dried and fresh cherries and mulling spices. The acidity is holding up well and the umami character of this wine makes the mouth water. Outstanding. 18/20 points (AY)" (06/2025) K&L Notes: ***Winery Direct - 20-year-old Library Release** Hailing from the small Saratoga estate vineyard planted by Kathryn Kennedy in the early 1970s, this is the winery’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottling has long been one of the reference points for Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet, standing shoulder to shoulder with iconic wines such as Ridge Monte Bello and Mount Eden Estate, all famed for their immense ageing potential. Today, Kathryn Kennedy’s son, Marty Mathis, continues to craft the wines from this storied estate, carrying forward one of the region’s great Cabernet traditions.

This is just the 37th release of the Comtes, the first being the 1952. It is entirely Grand Cru, and only from the Côte de Blancs, made from a selection of the best lots from Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil, and Oger. Only the cuvée is used, the first most gentle pressing, and the wine is fermented almost entirely in stainless steel, with just 5% going into oak. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 10 years on the lees and is only just now being released at 12 years old, enjoying a bit of time on the cork as well. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

This rosé from Domaine de la Chapelle Saint Victor AOP Coteaux d'Aix en Provence is made from a Mediterranean blend of Grenache and Cinsault, enhanced with a touch of Syrah (50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 20% Syrah). Very fruity, this rosé is particularly well suited as an aperitif or with salads and vegetable dishes." The winegrowing estate of Chateau les Valentines is more than a century old. The estate originally brought their grapes to the local cooperative, but when Gilles and Pascale Pons took over in 1997, they decided to make their own wine. They built a modern winery and called the domaine "Les Valentines" after their children, Valentin and Clémentine. Château les Valentines now covers approximately 100 acres. The "Le Caprice de Clémentine" is part of the second range of wines coming from the estate. Moderately priced, it is a high quality Côtes de Provence made from the traditional grape varieties Cinsault (50%) and Grenache (50%). Its easy approach shows fresh and fruity aromas indicative of the region. It is light and delicate with a pure nose and good acidity to preserve freshness. Serve with traditional Mediterranean fare such as a Niçoise salad, grilled fish and vegetables, light cheeses and such.

Little Book returns for its 10th chapter with "All The Wiser," a milestone release that shows just how far Freddie Noe’s annual blending project has come. What began as a tribute to Booker Noe, who gave Freddie the "Little Book" nickname, has become one of Beam’s most anticipated limited releases, bottled uncut and unfiltered except for standard quality screening. This 2026 edition is a powerhouse Blended Straight Whiskey at 122.6 proof, built from a remarkable lineup: 14-year Basil Hayden, 11-year and 9-year Knob Creek, 10-year Booker’s, 9-year Baker’s, and 4-year Jim Beam finished in sherry and toasted bourbon casks. That component list alone is wild, but the real achievement is the way it pulls Beam’s many voices into one coherent statement: mature oak, dark fruit, molasses, raisin, fig, caramel, cinnamon, and that unmistakable Kentucky depth. It’s a fitting 10th chapter, showing Freddie less as a rule-bound blender and more as an instinctive listener, shaping the whiskey without forcing it. Big, layered, and deeply Beam.

97 points Decanter: "*Decanter Best in Show World Wine Awards 2026* Like Chablis and the Côte d’Or, the Mâconnais had a tough (and sodden) time of it over the course of the 2024 vintage, but it did have an ace up its sleeve: August here was warmer and sunnier than elsewhere in Burgundy (328 hours of sunshine was significantly above its long-term average), and that put the wines of this sub-region on a firmer foundation than elsewhere. In any case, Pouilly-Fuissé usually delivers some of Bourgogne's ripest white wines every year. This Premier Cru version (only the second Best In Show appearance for a Pouilly-Fuissé) has assurance and wealth to it, indeed even a little appealing baby fat. There are delicious hazels and peach fruits apparent on the aroma, and the flavours are rich, sapid, vinous and structured, with appetising melon and peach generosity. The vintage adds an undertow of vivacious acidity relatively rare in recent years in Pouilly-Fuissé, too, lending the wine additional poise and drinkability." (06/2026)

Frankland Estate is one of Australia's benchmark cool-climate producers, located in the remote Frankland River subregion of Western Australia's Great Southern. The estate was founded in 1988 by Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam, who believed the region's unique climate and ancient soils could produce world-class wines long before it gained international recognition. Frankland River's inland location provides warm, sunny days tempered by cool nights, creating a long growing season that allows grapes to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant natural acidity. Ancient ironstone gravel and gravelly loam soils further contribute to the precision and mineral character that define the region's best wines. Frankland Estate has earned particular acclaim for its Rieslings, which are celebrated for their laser-like acidity, intense citrus and floral aromas, and striking mineral backbone. Rather than emphasizing overt fruitiness, the wines are crafted in a dry, tightly coiled style that rewards patience, developing notes of lime curd, beeswax, and toast with bottle age. Their uncompromising approach to cool-climate Riesling that has established Frankland Estate as one of Australia's most respected producers.

98 points Robert Parker for Wine Advocate: "A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, this wine represents only 34% of Lafite's total harvest. In a less than perfect Medoc vintage, it has been spectacular since birth, putting on more weight and flesh over the last year. This opaque purple-colored 1998 is close to perfection. The spectacular nose of lead pencil, smoky, mineral, and black currant fruit soars majestically from the glass. The wine is elegant yet profoundly rich, revealing the essence of Lafite's character. The tannin is sweet, and the wine is spectacularly layered yet never heavy. The finish is sweet, super-rich, yet impeccably balanced and long (50+ seconds)." (04/2001)

There’s a certain fluidity here – like in the Charmes – but the concentration is more a background impression for this wine. 100 points Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cristal Rosé from Louis Roederer is one of the most complete wines to be found in Champagne in this vintage, so utterly pure and precise that I would run the risk of exhausting superlatives trying to express its clarity. Displaying a pale hue, it soars from the glass with a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity, featuring notes of tangerine zest, raspberry and rose petals mingling with peeled almonds and spices. Enjoyed from magnum, disgorged in February 2024, the wine’s persistent palate offers a bright, vibrant core of fruit, refined mousse and fine-boned structure, with racy and fresh acidity and a long, chalky finish. “With 2013, I was confident from day one, which was not the case with 2008,” recalls Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon, and the result in the glass precludes any argument about it—the 2013 Cristal Rosé is a wine that’s structurally complete, deep and multifaceted, even more spectacular than the white 2013 Cristal. When I asked William Kelley why he gave 99 points to 2013 if he rated the 2008 Cristal Rosé with 100, he for a moment insisted to me that it was the other way around. (KK)" (04/2025) 99 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cristal Rosé (magnum) is a Champagne of extraordinary dimension, concentration and pure power. All of the richness of a vintage marked by a delayed start, intense heat in summer and a late harvest comes through in a Champagne that dazzles from start to finish. The magnum format is especially evident here, as there are layers of slight reduction and textural intensity that are not present in both the 2014 in this tasting and the 2013 Cristal Rosé in bottle. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2023. (AG)" (11/2025) 99 points Decanter: "It's hardly news that Roederer's Cristal Rosé excelled in 2013, although in magnum the sheer energy and electricity that buzzes through this effortlessly detailed, ravishing rosé is even more remarkable. Everything is placed with quiet precision here; vivid, sweet mandarin and redcurrant fruit sit in perfect harmony with salty, umami sourdough, gentle pistachio and madeleine richness and a perfectly tapering, satin-smooth mousse. There's not a hair out of place nor a flavour singing too loudly; it's almost impossible to pick apart, lifting and elongating on the palate almost endlessly. Set to be a true classic. (TH)" (09/2024) 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "If you're a Champagne lover and this doesn't do it for you, I don't know what will. A magical Champagne that's just about as good as it gets, the 2013 Cristal Rosé reveal a lighter salmon hue to go with a rich yet also subtle nose of orange blossom, white flowers, toasted brioche, and chalky minerality. It takes some coaxing but is incredibly complex aromatically and offers more spice, dried strawberry, and library book-like nuances as it sets in the glass. Richly textured on the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and has surprising opulence as well as a great mid-palate, all of which are balanced by a vibrant spine of acidity. It starts out seemingly soft and easygoing yet changes with air, and it possesses an incredible mix of suppleness, texture, and precision that is something to behold. It can be drunk today or cellared for 20 or 30 years, possibly even longer." (04/2021) 98 points James Suckling: "Biscuit, white strawberry, peach, pie crust, chalk, pomegranate and pink grapefruit here. Cotton candy, too. Sharp and vibrant, with direct and linear character. Elegant, fine bubbles. Dry and delicate, yet powerful. Drink or hold." (06/2022) 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "A pale rosé color of this great Champagne leads to a wine that has toast, spice and layers of citrus and red fruits. Its richness is balanced by freshness that will take several years to fully mature. So, even at eight years, the wine has plenty of room to develop. Drink from 2023. *Cellar Selection (RV)" (12/2021) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Like an orchestra that melds the voices of many compon

98 points Wine Advocate: "Back in 2014, Salon's president Didier Depond was quoted in the press as saying that “since 2008, there has been no genuinely great vintage in Champagne" and that a 2012 from Salon wouldn't be released. But the just-released 2012 Brut Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil shows that he had good reason to change his mind, as to my palate this is, after the 2008, the finest Salon produced this millennium. Unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus oil, wet stones, freshly baked bread, white currants and oyster shell, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a tightly wound core of fruit, racy acids and an elegant pinpoint mousse. Concluding with a long and resonant finish, this is a structured and powerful Salon that's a lot more incisive than, for example, the 2002 at the same stage, but which also carries more muscle and substance than a leaner vintage such as 2007. For readers that have balked at the pricing of the magnum-only 2008, the 2012 isn't far off the latter's level in quality, and will presumably be distributed more conventionally. 98+ (WK)" (09/2021)

Longmorn’s 18-Year-Old Single Batch release is a standout expression from one of Speyside’s most quietly respected distilleries. Matured in a combination of American oak ex bourbon barrels and hogsheads, this unfiltered, cask-strength single malt shows the polish and complexity that comes from nearly two decades of aging. On the nose, there’s an immediate impression of richness—layers of golden orchard fruit, honeyed malt, and soft vanilla weave into deeper notes of citrus oil and toasted coconut. The palate delivers a plush, full-bodied texture balanced by a bright, structured core. Stone fruit, baked apples, and tropical hints meet creamy toffee, spice, and a touch of charred oak. The higher proof gives it power without sacrificing finesse, and a splash of water teases out even more fruit and floral nuance. This release perfectly captures Longmorn’s style—elegant yet substantial, with a long, refined finish that hints at dark chocolate, ginger, and dried fruit. While the brand keeps a relatively low profile, this bottling makes a strong case for Longmorn’s place among Speyside’s elite. A must-have for fans of mature Scotch that doesn’t chase trends, just delivers on quality.

96-97 points James Suckling: "Deep fruit, dark spices and graphite with wide yet polished, linear tannins. Full-bodied and intense with depth and structure. Long and chalky at the end. Big wine." (04/2023) 95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Langoa Barton has turned out superbly in bottle. Offering up aromas of cassis, blackberries, pencil shavings and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with velvety tannins, lively fruit and a long, penetrating finish. Seamless, integrated and intense, Langoa's more morcellated vineyards means that this estate has, if anything, gained even more from the Barton family's new vat room than its big brother Léoville Barton, as each parcel can now be fermented separately, optimizing its potential. This is the best young Langoa Barton I can remember tasting. (WK)" (03/2025) 95 points The Wine Palate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts with bold notes of warm cassis, juicy plums, and fragrant soil, opening out to hints of dried mint and Indian spices. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with juicy blackberry flavors, supported by plush tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long with a minty lift. (LPB)" (05/2025) 93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Ripe and juicy, this wine also has a fine structure. Rich black fruits set the scene for the wine's future with tannins and acidity marching together. (RV)" (11/2023) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This is a suave rendering of the vintage, offering a vivid beam of boysenberry and blackberry puree that's gently succulent and generous in feel but stays racy and defined by an underlying iron note. Violet, ink and anise accents are infused throughout, lending brightness and range through the pure finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. (JM)" (05/2025) 95 points Decanter: "Supple and lively, this has energy and intensity from the start. Clean and precise, well worked, cool and fresh with tannins that do well to give the frame and structure without overwhelming the fruit. Really nice this year, good movement and liveliness, rich fruit but juicy and fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously and I really like it!! Harvest 8-23 September. Yield of 30hl/ha. Ageing in French oak, 60% new. (GH)" (04/2023) 93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Grand Vin 2022 Château Langoa Barton checks in as 56.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc that was raised in 60% new barrels. Medium-bodied and vibrant, with a fresher, elegant, yet still textured profile, it has pure black and blue fruits, some lead pencil, tobacco, and earthy nuances, fine tannins, and a great finish. This 2022 is all about finesse and elegance." (05/2023) 94 points Jane Anson: "The last few years have seen Langoa, in classically understated Barton way, turning into a barnstormer, with the value that was once reserved for Léoville. It's great in 2022, with its slightly cooler terroir really coming into its own. Luscious black cherry, sandalwood, campfire, crayon, crushed rocks, this is stuff, almost ready to go but will clearly deliver for decades." (12/2024)

Stephan Reinhardt writes: "Les Chétillons is one of the top wines of the Côte des Blancs, coming from one of the most famous terroirs in Le Mesnil. Here, Pierre Péters owns three parcels of old vines, adding up to a total of more than 2.5 hectares. The youngest block was planted in the early 1970's and the oldest one in 1936. The vines are mass selections, as are about 85% of all the vineyards Pierre Péters cultivates. 100 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown for Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Haut-Brion is deep garnet colored and slightly closed and shy to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal sensuous notions of warm blackberries, plum preserves, mulberries and blackcurrant cordial with touches of star anise, mocha and damp soil. Full-bodied, taut and tightly wound in the mouth, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit and mineral layers with a very firm frame of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and earthy. Raúl Pérez Pereira is widely regarded as one of the most visionary winemakers in the world, having produced his first vintage for his family’s winery in 1994 at just 22 years old. In 2005, he branched out to establish his own project, Bodegas y Viñedos Raúl Pérez, which quickly became a benchmark for the Bierzo region. Over the years, he has expanded his work to include several other appellations, though his roots remain firmly planted in Valtuille de Abajo — the village in Bierzo where his family has cultivated vines for over three centuries. The Ultreia Saint Jacques is a Mencia-dominant field blend that includes Bastardo (Trousseau), Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), Palomino and Doña Blanca, blended from many different parcels, mostly planted between the 1890s and the 1940s in and around Valtuille de Abajo. The wine is made from 50-60% whole clusters, fermented in 13000L open-top oak vats with a 60-day-plus post-fermentation maceration.

Nuestras Raíces—Spanish for Our Roots—is a bold, small-batch agave distillate crafted by third-generation maestro distiller Humberto Alvarado in La Estancita, a remote jungle village between Tequila and Magdalena, Jalisco. Using a centuries-old family recipe, this expression pays tribute to traditional methods that honor the purity of agave. Known locally as Jugo de la Selva—Jungle Juice—this spirit showcases 100% Blue Weber Agave from El Valle, slow-cooked under low pressure in a custom wood-fired autoclave. The cooked agave is hand-chopped with axes, shredded by a repurposed 1970s Chevy engine, and washed with pure natural spring water sourced just 100 meters from the still. Fermented in open air with wild native yeasts and twice distilled in a wood-fired stainless steel still with copper coils, the result is an unfiltered, additive-free spirit that’s intensely agave-forward, vegetal, and earthy, with layers of natural minerality. Nuestras Raíces is a raw and authentic expression of traditional agave production—ideal for connoisseurs seeking heritage, craftsmanship, and bold flavor in its most natural form.

95 points, Neal Martin for Vinous: "The 2019 Brane-Cantenac marked the introduction of the R'Pulse system to enhance extraction and obviate the use of pumping-over. By then, the wine was mostly sourced from 30 hectares at the heart of the estate on Terrace IV gravels, with 100% new oak used during élevage. Vivacious blackberry, blueberry and hints of shucked oyster shells make for a far superior nose to the 2018 with more delineation, freshness and mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with a notably sapid entry, verging on briny in style with plenty of black olives (perhaps due to the focus on the gravelly terroir?). Cohesive with impressive grip on the finish, this is a long-term prospect that will flourish with bottle age. Superb." (9/2025)

99pts Fallstaff Magazine: "Pale green yellow, silver reflections. Delicate herbal savouriness, fine white pome fruit, mineral, a hint of apple and mango, tobacco nuances, multi-faceted bouquet. Powerful, elegant, silky texture, fine fruit sweetness, finesse-rich structure, mineral-salty, completely harmonious, a hint of apricot on the finish, will benefit from bottle ageing.-Peter moser"(06/2025)

Miguel Torres is an influential figure in modern Spanish wine, known for blending tradition with innovation across several regions. One of his notable ventures is the Pago del Cielo project, which reflects his family’s expansion beyond their Catalan roots into other prestigious appellations. This project includes both Ribero del Duero and Rueda, two regions located in far a focus on the Rueda denomination of origin, an area widely respected for producing fresh, expressive white wines. In Rueda, Torres sought to highlight the potential of the indigenous Verdejo grape, which has become the region’s signature variety. Pago del Cielo represents a careful balance between respecting local viticultural traditions and applying modern winemaking techniques. The 2024 “Celeste” Verdejo is 86% Verdejo blended with 14% Sauvignon Blanc (the second most widely planted variety in the appellation), all grown in estate vineyards on the slopes of the Duero River near the town of Villafranca de Duero. The wine is fermented in stainless steel then aged for several months on the fine lees in tank, adding distinctive complexity and mouthfeel to this friendly and approachable wine.

98 points James Suckling: "Magnums of Cristal are always released a couple of years after the original release of a vintage. And the 2013 is gorgeous. It’s linear and extremely long, showing real energy and vibe with crushed chalk and stone. Medium-bodied, tight and still structured, with phenolic tension and intensity. Fresh finish. Demonstrates the reserve power of Crystal." 96 points Wine Spectator: "Exotic hints of tangerine and candied ginger are an enticing entrance for this vivid Champagne, accenting a finely meshed range of ripe green apple and cassis fruit, with rich notes of chopped almond, brioche and lemon curd. An underscoring streak of salinity gains momentum through the mouthwatering finish, echoing as it rides the plushly creamy mousse. This is decadence in a sleek and graceful package. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2033" (11/2021) 96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I think the 2013 Champagne Cristal checks in behind the 2008, but it's nevertheless a beautiful wine. Lots of ripe orchard fruits, toasted bread, brioche, and chalky mineral notes define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a layered, nicely concentrated, tight, inward style, beautiful precision and purity, and a great finish. It needs a good 5-7 years of bottle age to hit its stride and will keep for two decades or more." (04/2021)

Domaine Dupont’s Cask Finish Collection is one of the most compelling modern twists on traditional Calvados, taking the classic Pays d’Auge profile of orchard fruit, pastry, spice, and polished oak and layering it with a final maturation in casks that previously held Islay whisky. Dupont is working from a serious foundation here: estate apples are pressed, fully fermented into cider, then double distilled before aging in oak, so the spirit already has the depth and structure that make great Calvados so satisfying. The whisky cask finish adds a fascinating coastal edge, bringing peat smoke, salt, and mineral tension into the apple brandy’s natural richness. Instead of feeling gimmicky, the combination lands beautifully, with baked apple, almond, buttered pastry, subtle smoke, savory brine, and a clean, lifted finish. For fans of Islay Scotch, this is an easy bridge into the world of Calvados. For brandy drinkers, it is a rare chance to see Normandy’s great apple spirit through an entirely different lens. Limited, distinctive, and absolutely delicious.
