The 2023 Pinot Noir Jack Hill comes from a site in Freestone-Occidental. It’s a proper standout in a range of excellent wines. The 2023 delivers so much concentration and density, yet it comes through without an iota of excess. Lavender, black tea leaves, sage, white pepper and new leather unfurl in a seriously complex, enticing picture. It’s crunchy and lively through the finish, echoing long with a lifted note of orange zest. The Jack Hill is fresh, persistent and laser-focused, not to mention a joy to taste, even in the early going. (BN)

Made with 75% whole clusters, the 2023 Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard is bursting with scents of blueberry, pomegranate, juniper, sage, pepper and violet. The medium-bodied palate features highly concentrated flavors framed by plush, powdery tannins. It’s balanced by bright, energetic acidity and has a long, floral finish. It will benefit from cellaring. (EB) 93+

Jack’s Hill Pinot Noir comes from a small, ultra-cool-climate vineyard on the West Sonoma Coast. This site sits just a few miles from the ocean near Bodega Bay, where the vines are constantly buffeted by cold winds and fog off the Pacific. Temperatures during the growing season very rarely exceed 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and often hover around 65-70 even on a “warm,” sunny day. The long, extended growing season allows for tremendous flavor development in this pure, elegant, bright-fruited Pinot Noir. The nose is full of red berries, dried flowers, baking spice, sassafras, and hints of dry, dusty earth. Very vibrant and focused on the palate, with just the subtlest hint of oak framing the pomegranate and raspberry fruit. Savory, woodsy spice and whole-cluster stem notes add further intrigue. What a beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir, and what an exceptional price - 50% off thanks to our Insider’s Advantage program.

The 2023 Anthill Farms "Jack Hill Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir isn’t light Burgundian nor bold California in style. It’s unmistakably Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir: beautiful fruit that's brilliantly rendered with a thoughtful touch. The layers unfold with clarity and precision: ripe raspberry, blood orange, hibiscus, and violet, framed by soft suggestions of baking spice and a whisper of cordovan leather subtle enough for polite and discerning palates. It underwent 30% whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and aged in 30% new French oak barrels. The winemaking at Anthill Farms supports rather than directs, allowing the character of Jack Hill Vineyard to be the star of the show. Bravo!
