Benrinnes is a historical and unique distillery in the Speyside region. Founded in 1826 and completely destroyed by a flood in 1829, it was rebuilt in 1835 a few kilometers from the original site. Once again devastated by fire in 1896, it was fully reconstructed in 1956. Benrinnes gained international recognition for the finesse of its whiskies, produced through its distinctive 2.5-style distillation and traditional worm tub condensers. Much to the horror of Benrinnes lovers everywhere, the brand switched to standard double distillation in 2007. Now nearly two decades later, it's clear that the wonderful hidden distillery at the foot of Speyside's tallest mountain has not lost its luster. Our friends at Douglas Laing have deep stocks from this delightful distillery and selected this exceptional cask for us for the 2025 whisky season. Its beautiful sherry character is distinctive yet harmonizes perfectly with the rich, robust malt produced by the charming Benrinnes spirit stills and their iconic worm tubs. You'll have a hard time finding better value for money in a cask strength single sherry butt anywhere in the world.

Bunnahabhain has always been Islay’s quiet outlier, a distillery founded in 1881 at the "mouth of the river" on the island’s far northeast shore, where a purpose-built village grew up around the stillhouse and, for decades, the only practical access was by sea. That remoteness helped preserve a house style that feels unmistakably coastal yet often avoids the heavy peat that defines many of its neighbors. In a single cask, that personality gets turned up to high resolution: the maritime lift, the oily weight paired with dense dark sherry, creating that unmistakable tension of salty malt and Jerez rancio. The distillery’s famously wide neck stills and large onion base create an undeniably unique spirits, which always seems to shine even through the most active sherry cask. This beautiful butt of Bunnahabhain was selected by the K&L Buying team in the Spring of 2025. It was filled into a a 1st fill Oloroso sherry butt on May 28th of 2012 and bottled on August 18th of 2025 at a natural cask strength of 128.6 proof. We're extremely grateful to our dear friends at Signatory for finding these special gems and offering them to us at such reasonable prices. Very few other bottlers have so consistently offered such a high quality single malt than the good people at Signatory.

Founded in 1825 at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain in Fort William, Ben Nevis has long been revered by whisky insiders for its dense, oily texture and unmistakably old school character. Much of its production has historically gone into blends, but the spirit’s weight and complexity have made it a cult favorite among independent bottlers and serious malt drinkers. Not long ago it was difficult even to secure a single cask of Ben Nevis, but certain suppliers now appear to have improved access and, even better, we are seeing a wider diversity of cask types. If you remember, we offered the same spirit in first fill sherry butts last year. The same spirit in an old second fill sherry butt is truly perfect. If you appreciate the velvet hammer that is Ben Nevis, you will likely agree. This special distillate is among Scotland’s most characterful, a muscular Highland spirit capable of carrying immense flavor. Some prefer it naked in well-worn oak, others love it in deeply active sherry wood, but few will dispute the remarkable nuance that old, reused Oloroso casks can bring to this singular malt. That's not to say this isn't a full-bodied heavily sherried malt, because it is. This exceptional cask delivers the full potential this spirit can offer in great old wood like this. This whisky was distilled on January 27, 2014 and bottled in the summer of 2025 at a natural cask strength of 56.4% alc by vol, without chillfiltration or color additives whatsoever.

Another incredible deal from the depths of Scotland's vast blending apparatus. This is a completely different lot than the first Sideburns, but the exact same blend. Our friends at Cadenhead's would sell this style of blended malt as "Burnside," but rather than push our luck after Sideburns raised a few eyebrows, we’re offering this special parcel of 36 year old blended malt under the cheeky "Enviable" label. If you're sharp with wordplay or familiar with Burnside, the reference should be clear. While we cannot state the distillery outright, this whisky is composed primarily of the famous malt produced in Dufftown under the William Grant system. By strict legal definition it is simply another blended malt of considerable age, but in terms of quality it stands among the finest whisky being produced in Scotland today. The practice of teaspooning was developed within the blending trade to prevent competitors from capitalizing on a distillery’s name, adding a trace amount of another malt to obscure origin. With that in mind we’ll stay tactful, but even minimal research will point you in the right direction. There is no question that the whisky in this bottle represents extraordinary pedigree, and without that minute addition from a neighboring distillery its value would be many times what we’re asking. The quirks of the Scotch market can be remarkable, and moments like this are exactly where they benefit the drinker.

The first brand created by K&L’s Spirits Department was Faultline, a range that spanned the globe with Scotch, rum, and gin, though it was our Indiana bourbon that earned recognition well beyond our borders. Until now, however, we had never bottled a true Kentucky bourbon under our own label. Enter Every Drop. The historic K&L Every Drop brand, originally used in the 1910s to sell whiskey, had been dormant since the mid-1970s. Revived today as our line of exclusively Kentucky whiskies, it represents our continued pursuit of exceptional barrels bottled solely for our customers. This batch, distilled from a mashbill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley at a storied distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, offers a fascinating contrast to the mature 16-year releases we’ve previously offered under the same name. Bottled at 107-proof as a nod to the traditional entry proof at this distillery, the whiskey was drawn from 10 hand-selected barrels of outstanding quality and carefully blended to create a singular expression available only at K&L.

We've been doing gin and single malt for years, and now rum, so why not throw our hat in the bourbon pool? One of the obstacles that kept us from making a Faultline bourbon earlier was availability: the current demand has made the extra barrel a thing of the past. One of the only distilleries that would sell us a cask for a private label was the old LDI distillery in Indiana, but with the already overcrowded LDI market (Bulleit Rye, Templeton Rye, High West, etc) we didn't think our product would be different enough, or of the quality we desired, for the Faultline name. . If we were going to work with MGP casks, then we needed the capability to blend something special to taste - the specs alone wouldn't sell this baby. We had to find some kick@$$ casks. We started with an incredible 10-year-old low rye formula that we used in conjunction with some 7-year high rye. We kept tasting and tasting until we found the sweet spot at 100 proof. The proprietary blend is one we keep close to the vest. It's FAR better than we ever thought it would be. The plan was to provide something fun and delicious for our customers, but the final whiskey is just phenomenal. It's rich, with sweet fruit right on the entry, a full-bodied mid-palate, and a long, rich, spicy finish. It tastes like it came from Four Roses or somewhere fancy in KY. We only produce it when we find a batch worthy of this special recipe because this bourbon is the old King of K&L. Taste it if you don't believe us.

Across the San Francisco Bay from K&L's Redwood City and San Francisco stores, St. George Spirits makes three gins: Botanivore Gin, Terroir Gin, and Dry Rye Gin. There are few products where legacy is more important than in Tequila. Brands come and go, but families do not. LALO Tequila is named for the father of its founder, Eduardo "Lalo" Gonzalez. This nickname was given to him by his grandfather, Don Julio Gonzalez. Originally created to the specifications of his grandfathers recipe as a product to share exclusively with friends and family, LALO now represents the continuation of decades of high-quality tequila production. Using only mature highland agave, steamed slowly and rested for days before fermentation. Only agave, Champagne yeast, and water are added during fermentation before a slow careful distillation. LALO is only sold as a blanco, intended to capture the true essence of this special plant, and present it as the master himself intended. Yet, the brand is not intended to be saved for special occasions, but instead offered as a vehicle to make an occasion that much more special. Expect a crisp clean agave-forward nose, a luxurious and rich mouth feel with notes of cinnamon, roasted agave, sweet potato, citrus fruit, and a long creamy finish.

The original Clynelish distillery was built on the storm coast of Sutherland in 1819, and its whiskies have long been praised for their combination of North Highland and maritime qualities. The 14-year is sweetly floral, with beeswax, smoke, and sea air aromatics. In the mouth it's creamy and delicious, with umami-salty characteristics, peat, and a dry, peppercress finish.

Buffalo Trace is the workhorse small batch bourbon from the wonderful distillery of the same name. The brand was developed by the legendary Elmer T. Lee when Sazerac Co. purchased the distillery in the 1990s. It remains one of the great values in Kentucky bourbon and continues to amaze even the most jaded critics.

This western Highland malt is said to have been originally created in 1794. Oban is a true classic, with an amber color, an assertive, round nose, and a rich, slightly viscous body. On the palate, it is dry with malty and fruity undertones. It has a wonderfully smooth and aromatic finish.

The fact that we can enjoy brandy more than four decades old at such an astonishingly fair price feels almost unreal, yet no number can capture the depth or beauty of this extraordinary spirit. The traditional Domaine in Mauleon-d’Armagnac, set in the heart of Gascony’s finest terroir, has been quietly producing remarkable brandy for generations without ever reaching beyond the local market. Proprietor Jean-Marc Durroux is no radical but a devoted steward of the land, guided by the same principles that shaped his family’s work before him. He believes that great Armagnac begins in the vineyard, and his commitment to biodiversity ensures that every inch of the estate thrives in natural balance. Cover crops, hedgerows, forest margins, and carefully tended fallow plots all support a living ecosystem that gives his grapes their singular character. In the cellar, that same care yields brandies of exceptional purity, depth, and authenticity. This rare old barrel of Buffalo Trace was meticulously selected by the K&L Buying team. Distilled on March 14 of 2017 it is a full 8 years old aged entirely on the 4th floor of old warehouse N. Bottled in the XL 1.75 liter bottle, this unique barrel is a special one.

This special old barrel was bottled by our friends at Dornoch Distillery under the festive Dornoch Castle Hotel Anniversary label. This series of exceptionally curated casks was selected to commemorate 25 years of independent family ownership of the special property in the gorgeous little eponymously named town. The hotel is the site of both the original Dornoch Distillery and the fabulous whisky bar that Phil and Simon worked so hard to curate in the early years. It remains one of the world’s great whisky bars, tucked into a little corner of the hotel’s modest restaurant. It is simply unconscionable that the fabulous Glen Garioch distillery remains underappreciated by the wider whisky loving world. Founded in 1797 in the town of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, Glen Garioch is one of Scotland’s oldest operating distilleries. Long known for its robust Highland character, the distillery always maintained a muscular, cereal driven style that stands apart from many of its softer contemporaries. Today it remains a traditional plant with direct fired heritage and a reputation among insiders for producing spirit of remarkable texture and depth. That relative lack of mainstream recognition has translated into extraordinary opportunities at the higher end of the spectrum. It is remarkable that Thompson Bros has been able to secure such a high quality old Highlander at such a reasonable price. The obvious sleeper this year, but those who take the plunge will be greatly rewarded.

This famous aperitif wine has made a resurgence in recent years as the cocktail revolution has inspired a new generation of mixologists to explore tried, true, and traditional potations. Lillet Blanc is used in numerous classic cocktails, but can be served in a spritz, chilled, or on the rocks with a citrus twist. It consists of 85% Semillon and 15% macerated (primarily citrus) liqueurs. Think of it as a refreshing and delightful aromatized white Bordeaux.

The legendary Probitas (Veritas in every other country) is finally upon us! This "extremely exciting" (a direct quote from K&L's spirit buyer) is a collaboration between the excellent Foursquare distillery in Barbados and the wonderful Hampden Estate in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, where they are "rewriting the rules for rum." It begins with a base of molasses-based rum distilled expertly by Richard Seale on his famous Coffey still. These are mingled with two rare rums from Jamaica's most authentic distillery, are two "low-ester" rums from the OWH marque (Owen W Hussey). One, an unaged pot-stilled rum, and the other the same rested in the tropical climate for two years. The resulting blend is completely devoid of any additives, save water, but is filled to the brim with explosive flavors and unprecedented depth. The finest white rum on the market by any measure, and an affordable luxury that all rum nerds, cocktailians, and serious drinkers should seek out. Unsullied by sophistic dosage indeed!

Produced in the historic Asti region outside of Torino, this Moscato-based vermouth is a true Vermouth di Torino, one of the only two protected Geographical Indications of Origin for vermouth. The rich, vibrant flavor profile offers complex notes backed by a balanced, bitter undertone. Enjoy neat or mixed in numerous classic cocktails. To celebrate its 120th anniversary, the House of Cocchi has resumed production of its original recipe of Giulio Cocchi, who founded the house in 1891.

Named North American Whiskey of the Year at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Best Buy of the Year at the 2006 WhiskeyFest. Rye was the first Colonial American whiskey, and was the most popular spirit in the US for more than a century until it fell out of favor. Made in a classic Pennsylvania style at the Heaven Hill distillery in Kentucky, this has been aged for at least four years in barrel and bottled at 100 proof. To be called "Bottled in Bond" it also has to be the product of a single distillery, made in a single season in a single year.

The world’s 1st & only vermouth made with 100% Hondarrabi Zuri Getariako Txakoli Wine.The underlying wine is produced by the fifth-generation of winemakers from the famed Eizaguirre family, from old vines grown high on breathtaking rolling hills just above and overlooking the beautiful Bay of Biscay in Zarautz, Spain. They pioneered the use of local "Integrated Production" since the climate in the area is too wet for certified organic or biodynamic production methods. Instead of spraying, they bring sheep from a farm next door to eat the dead vine leaves, grass, and pests that would otherwise lead to rot, leaving only the living grapes which fight through rough conditions to produce the wine. The wild wine made here is famous for its freshness and complexity and this vermouth uses a double maceration technique to highlight it's best qualities. More than 80 mostly local aromatic herbs from all around the Basque Country are extracted in a base spirit of Orujo -a pomace brandy similar to eau de vie. This concoction is aged for several months in old French oak barrels before being blended with the txakoli wine and adjusted to 15% abv. A deep chestnut auburn in color. The nose is complex with grapefruit, raspberry, and nectarine notes, and a finish of toast, vanilla, and caramel, all balanced by a bitter and tannic base. The underlying txakoli wine fills everything with bright acidity, mineral, and salinity, but the rich botanicals lend more depth.

Few spirits in Scotland are so coveted by the initiated yet so little known to the broader whisky world as the deeply peated malt from the old north shore distillery known in the trade as Staoisha. This is the heavily peated spirit produced at Bunnahabhain, a distillery better known for its typically unpeated Islay style, yet capable of producing some of the island’s most forceful smoky whisky when the stills are turned to peat. The wide, tall stills seem to gather dense smoke around Bunnahabhain’s naturally briny character, creating a spirit that is both intensely maritime and deeply peated. The distillery refers to this style internally as “Moine,” but bulk customers are not permitted to use that name, so independent bottlers reference nearby Loch Staoisha instead. In this case the distillery name appears on the label as well, leaving little mystery about the whisky’s origin. Founded in 1881 on Islay’s remote north coast, Bunnahabhain has long stood apart from its southern neighbors, producing a weighty coastal spirit that often emphasizes malt richness over peat smoke. The raw, powerful distillate here has not been overworked by oak, but after nearly twelve years in barrel it has blossomed into an absurdly complex and forceful expression unlike anything we have previously bottled. The oldest Staoisha we have yet offered, bottled at a natural cask strength of 63.1% alc by vol.

At nearly 7,000 feet in the red soils of Los Altos, maestro tequilero Roberto López tends 1,000 acres of estate agave—a rare level of ownership and control in modern tequila. Nephew to Felipe and Carlos Camarena of Ocho and G4 fame, Roberto carves his own path at El Sabino Distillery, where agave is harvested at 5½ years and roasted in traditional masonry ovens. After slow cooking, the piñas are tahona-crushed, then fermented naturally in both wood and stainless steel before distillation in a hybrid of stainless and copper pot stills. The Blanco is bottled at 40% ABV without additives, delivering the true essence of highland agave with a balance of floral lift, citrus brightness, and gentle minerality framed by a clean sweetness. Free of celebrity hype and bloated pricing, Zumbador is built to show what honest tequila tastes like, and with the hummingbird—symbol of endurance—as its totem, this Blanco offers purity, elegance, and authenticity at an everyday price .

*96 points, Ultimate Spirits Challenge Top 100 of 2020* Ocho's tequilas were created by Carlos Camarena, a third-generation Tequilero, and Tequila Ambassador Tomas Estes. And each vintage (yes, these are vintage designated tequilas) comes from a single estate with its own mesoclimate, making them the most terroir-driven tequilas on the market. The NOM 1474 or Tequilera Los Alambiques actually represents a new facility on the outskirts of Arandas built by Senor Camerena the famous distiller of Tapatio and El Tesoro Tequilas. This collaboration seeks to distill the purest form of agave to highlight the distinct flavor differences between agave grown in different terroir. Carlos uses estate grown agave and traditional methods to slow ferment and distill his specially selected single estate agave. (Estate and vintage pictured do not represent current stocks. Fernet Branca is an Italian amaro developed in 1845. The family's secret recipe has never been disclosed but what they can tell you is that it is a combination of 27 different herbs picked in four continents and aged for more than a year in oak casks. Perfect as a digestive, try it after your next hearty meal.

Bid on this bottle of Tequila Fortaleza Blanco Tequila. This blanco is wonderfully supple, with butterscotch flavors developed over a five day fermentation of the agave. Tequila Fortaleza is produced entirely within the walls of their estate, using centuries-old traditional methods which, although very labor intensive, create a tequila unequaled in taste and smoothness. Then they crush (or "mill") the agave as Guillermo's Tatarabuelo did over 135 years ago in a stone mill named The Tahona. The crushed agave is then washed with pure mountain water from the Volcán de Tequila, separating the pulp from the fibers to create an agave juice called "mosto." The woody fibers of the agave, called "bagazo, " are removed at this time and taken to the fields to use as compost. The agave mosto is then fermented naturally for five days in small wood vats, then double distilled using small, labor-intensive copper pot stills.

Bid on this bottle of Tequila Fortaleza Blanco Tequila. This blanco is wonderfully supple, with butterscotch flavors developed over a five day fermentation of the agave. Tequila Fortaleza is produced entirely within the walls of their estate, using centuries-old traditional methods which, although very labor intensive, create a tequila unequaled in taste and smoothness. Then they crush (or "mill") the agave as Guillermo's Tatarabuelo did over 135 years ago in a stone mill named The Tahona. The crushed agave is then washed with pure mountain water from the Volcán de Tequila, separating the pulp from the fibers to create an agave juice called "mosto." The woody fibers of the agave, called "bagazo, " are removed at this time and taken to the fields to use as compost. The agave mosto is then fermented naturally for five days in small wood vats, then double distilled using small, labor-intensive copper pot stills.

The plan to build a new distillery in this remote place wasn't an obvious one, but founder Anderson "Burr" Bakewell believed the unique feel of this special island could be captured, quite literally, in a bottle. The rare and elusive spirit of the Isle of Harris, which had historically drawn a special type of soul to it, was dwindling. The population slowly diminished, drawn away by modernity and the promise of prosperity on the mainland. Burr Bakewell gathered a group of like-minded individuals, who believed that the Isle still had much to give its people and the outside world, to bring his dream to life. It took seven years for the dream to come true, and on September 24th, 2015, the distillery opened. They created this incredible product as the inaugural release, using the gifts the Isle had bestowed upon its residents. The gin, distilled and bottled entirely on the island, is built around sustainably harvested Sugar Kelp. Local diver and seaweed expert Lewis Mackenzie harvests each batch for its starring role in this fabulous production. Offering a complex maritime influence, the unusual main botanical is supported by eight more classic gin flavors: juniper, cassia, coriander, angelica, bitter orange peel, cubeb, licorice, and orris roots. The gorgeous look of the Harris Gin bottle is as unique as it is inviting, but once you've tasted it, you'll see why many believe this to be the next great Scottish gin.
