Effervescent, tingly mouthfeel, but the flavor begins after the initial warmth, with hints of caramel apple, pumpkin pie, apricot, and a slight hint of caramel popcorn. Then it’s pumice, apricot, and marmalade, followed by salt water taffy, cinnamon, and a big burst of nutmeg. A long finish offers a hint of peach pie. (FM)

You'll get sweet cinnamon and rich corn pudding in the nose, with hints of meadow grass and bergamot. This one's warm and rich, nicely balanced by drying oak that tamps down the cinnamon from the nose. Well-balanced and sippable. (LB)

I never quite understood how Buffalo Trace was able to make so much great bourbon at such a low price. Even after visiting the distillery several times the numbers just seem silly. What you learn from being there is that Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare are essentially the same exact whiskey. Both are distilled from the same mashbill and aged in the same brick patent heated warehouse. Both are 10 years old when being dumped. The only difference is the way the taste. Literately, they taste each barrel and decide how to bottle it - either as a single cask or in the small batch blend. One is 30% cheaper than the other. Both are delicious. Incredible that this stuff isn't in EVERY well in every bar. Should always be a contender for your current HOUSE BOURBON.

Email DavidStill one of the best bang for your buck spirits of any kind on the market. Serious Bourbon that gets overlooked in the face of Pappy, even though this is the distillery's flagship product. There's a reason the distillery is called Buffalo Trace. This is the workhorse.
Notes
Buffalo Trace is the workhorse small batch bourbon from the wonderful distillery of the same name. The brand was developed by the legendary Elmer T. Lee when Sazerac Co. purchased the distillery in the 1990s. It remains one of the great values in Kentucky bourbon and continues to amaze even the most jaded critics.
