The very first Sazerac K&L Exclusive single barrel come through our wonderful New York location at 270 Madison Avenue. This iconic location has welcomed some of the finest barrels to ever to reach the Empire State, and this lovely rye is no exception. Buffalo Trace remains one of the few major distillers to keep its mashbills undisclosed, but this famously corn-heavy rye recipe is widely reported to contain just 51% rye, with most of the remainder being corn adn a bit of malted barley. Distilled on the large column-to-pot system at the historic Frankfort distillery in April 2019, it was filled at 125 proof into an Independent Stave char #4 barrel and placed in Rick 6 on the high sixth floor of Warehouse DD, which was constructed during the distillery’s 2019 expansion. Dumped in March 2026, just shy of its seventh birthday, this exceptional barrel offers all the depth and intensity we would expect from a high-floor rye. Add in the steam heating Buffalo Trace employs in ALL its aging warehouses, and you have an incredibly rare single-barrel expression that drinks well beyond its years. This has quickly become the go-to rye at our New York store, equally at home in a cocktail or poured neat. More importantly, it represents a genuine first for the K&L portfolio and is unlikely to remain available for long. Grab it while you can.
