I had the chance to taste a bottle of the 2001 Viña Tondonia Reserva 10 years after it was released, and the wine has evolved beautifully and quite slowly—at least that is the case for these bottles that have been kept in the winery for all these years. It's austere and elegant, with balance and concentration, polished tannins and a chalky texture, long tasty and dry. This is lively and should continue developing in bottle for quite some time... Medium red. A highly perfumed bouquet displays red fruit preserves, smoked meat and potpourri. Deeply pitched redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors show a slight medicinal reserve, which makes this wine seem far younger than it is. The potpourri note builds with air and carries through a long, chewy, smoky finish. Definitely let this air out for an hour or so. (JR)

The 'entry-level' Volnay is anything but, with pronounced purple and black fruit aromas accented with a hint of black tea and liquorice. The texture has subtle, grippy tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering finish. The grapes are from 1.7ha of vines spread over six lieu-dits including Les Famines, Les Buttes and Des Cros Martin. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in used casks. This wine should be approachable soon after release and is perfect for mid-term ageing.(CC)

Very different from the 2022 vintage, the 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape from Clos des Papes is deeper and more powerful. It reveals delicate aromas of flowers, iris, lilac and spices, intertwined with lovely peppery notes. Full-bodied, concentrated and dense, it displays the estate’s characteristic tension but with perfectly controlled power that brings a richer, solid core of fruit. The finish is long, ethereal and peppery, complemented by velvety tannins that promise graceful aging. It has a real potential to improve in the cellar. (YC)

The 2024 Foradori Teroldego is a vibrant and energetic expression of Trentino’s signature grape from the benchmark biodynamic producer. The nose is fragrant and woodsy, offering a "pretty mix" of crushed wild berries, fresh roses, and geranium with hints of wet stone and leather. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and juicy, balancing tart red fruit with tactile, fine-grained tannins and a savory, peppery edge. The finish is long and energetic, leaving a refreshing trail of floral and mineral notes. A "superjuicy" and authentic Alpine red that emphasizes purity and near-term pleasure

Classically pale in colour, this is a fragrant Passetoutgrains – the nose layered with pepper spice and delicate florals. The fruit is vibrant yet open, speaking of the ripeness of the year, with juicy and sweet strawberry and a creamy touch, with a pleasing earthiness and crushed-rock minerality to the finish. From a vineyard approaching 100 years in age, it spends 18 months in used barrels.(ST)

The Lafarge family’s 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté “Raisin d’Orée” is a beautiful wine. It offers up a lovely bouquet of pink grapefruit, apple, a lovely foundation of minerality, dried flowers and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is deep, long and full-bodied, with impressive depth at the core, bright acids, excellent balance and grip and a long, vibrant and complex finish. Fine juice.
