The Lafarge family’s 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté “Raisin d’Orée” is a beautiful wine. It offers up a lovely bouquet of pink grapefruit, apple, a lovely foundation of minerality, dried flowers and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is deep, long and full-bodied, with impressive depth at the core, bright acids, excellent balance and grip and a long, vibrant and complex finish. Fine juice. (Drink between 2025-2040)

There is a touch of phenolic character (think olive oil nuances) to the ripe and fresh aromas of spicy citrus confit. The utterly delicious middle weight flavors possess fine density, especially in the context of the vintages, while displaying excellent length on the balanced finale. A flamboyant lemon and lime colour with a strikingly lively ripe fruit on the nose. This is exciting ripe, not heavy ripe. Honeysuckle and then some butter to finish but a lively fruit in between. Have to think about a food pairing, not a simple apero. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted Dec 2024.

Offering up aromas of pear, bread dough and white flowers, the 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés is medium-bodied, soft and round, with an unusually open, easygoing personality this year. Lafarge's wines generally show very well from barrel, but in the 2023 vintage, late malolactics rendered several of the wines inscrutable. The rest of the range also appeared to be a little inconsistent this year.(WK)

Cool, slightly generous flavours, though with a lovely balance."(01/2025) This Bourgogne Aligoté comes from Domaine Michel Lafarge in Volnay, where the family has been a reference point for traditional, cellarworthy Burgundy for generations. “Raisins Dorés” refers to Aligoté Doré, an older, lower-yielding biotype of Aligoté that the domaine has preserved in its own vine material.
