Perfumed aromas of red currants, lavender, fresh thyme and graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins and balanced acidity, giving flavors of raspberry coulis, red licorice and baking spices. Very soft and delicate, with a nicely constructed backbone. Drink or hold.
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Knight's Valley is a soft, fleshy offering with aromas and flavors of red and black currants, smoke, earth, and subtle wood. Beringer was the first to exploit the potential of the Knight's Valley for Cabernet Sauvignon, which has now become one of California's most fashionable winemaking regions. (RP)" (08/2002)

Lots of dark fruits with violets and peppery greens followed by cigar box, forest floor and graphite with cedar and dark chocolates. Wonderfully structured full-bodied wine. Very focused and concentrated with serious depth and length. Artful savory complexity to it. A blend of 80% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc, 4% petit verdot, 4% merlot and 2% malbec. Released in spring 2024. It already has a nice drinkability but will age gracefully. Drink or hold.

Currants and blackberries with some black-olive and floral character. Medium to full body with juicy fruit and a medium chewy finish. Drinkable now, but better in three or four years. Try after 2023.
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95IWR, 95VN, 94JS, 94WS, 93WE). Wine Advocate: "... At 15.2% natural alcohol, this is a big boy, but also classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, and a touch of spicy oak. Winemaker Laurie Hook, who has since departed as winemaker, really hit a home run with this beauty. The wine could benefit from 7-10 years cellaring and probably last 30 to 40. When all is said and done, this is an instant classic, the wine full-bodied with oodles of crème de cassis, pen ink, graphite and baking spices. It is multi-dimensional, layered, and one of the all-time great Beringer Private Reserves - and there have been many. (RP)" (03/2016)

Of the 1986 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "The fully mature, open-knit 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is totally delicious. The color is dark garnet with some amber at the edge. The big, sweet, licorice, earthy, jammy, black fruit-scented nose is followed by a full-bodied, sweet, expansive, chewy wine with no hard edges. The acidity and tannin are both well-integrated in this plump, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. (RP)" (08/1996)

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2001 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 94VN, 93WE) and 1-bottle of 2004 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95VN, 93W&S, 92WS). Of the 2001 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "Just hitting late adolescence, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee exhibits an opaque dark purple color along with a beautiful, smoky, sweet black currant, licorice, truffle, toast and underbrush-scented nose. With fabulous concentration, great intensity and tremendous purity, this voluptuously textured, full-bodied classic is one of the all-time great Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignons. While drinkable now, it will continue to evolve for at least another 20 years. Of all the superb Private Reserve vintages, the 2001 ranks alongside the 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2005 and 2007. Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2016 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99JS, 97JD, 95RP, 95VN, 95WE, 93WS) and 1-bottle of 2016 Kapcsandy "Roberta’s Reserve - State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99JD, 98RP, 97VN). Of the 2016 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, James Suckling writes: "Breathtaking. Exceptional integration of super ripe blackberries and the very finest oak. The tannins build up beautifully, forming wave upon wave as the wine flows across the palate. Then the wave breaks on your palate and shoots way out at the finish, so that you wonder where it will end and normal life begin again. Needs time to soften, but this is so, so good." (02/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Beringer "125/25 Anniversary - Estate" St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (91VN). Vinous: "Bright medium ruby. Almost inky but not brutal on the nose, showing subtle violet lift to the aromas of black fruits and woodsmoke. Quite silky and fruity on entry, then the wine's juicy, slightly dominant acidity gives the middle palate a touch of sourness that's accentuated on the back by firm, dusty, tongue-saturating tannins. But this dark, very fresh wine seems still to be evolving and finishes firm and long. (ST) 91+" (09/2017)
