Mas de Sainte Croix "Pure" Syrah Côtes-du-Rhône
2020 Mas de Sainte Croix "Pure" Syrah Côtes-du-Rhône
94JS
91JD

Brimming with wild blackberry fruit with notes of black pepper and bitter chocolate this is powerful and structured, but also remarkably fresh and bright. There is easily enough ripe fruit to carry the serious tannin structure that some may find slightly challenging in this context, but really excites us. A pure syrah that was matured for a year in French oak. Long, beautifully crafted finish. (SP)

Chateau de Fonsalette "Réservé" Côtes-Du-Rhone
1996 Chateau de Fonsalette "Réservé" Côtes-Du-Rhone

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Chateau de Fonsalette "Réservé" Côtes-Du-Rhone (90RP). Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Fonsalette Cotes du Rhone boasts a dense ruby/purple color, as well as a chocolatey, blackberry, super-concentrated palate impression, and considerable body. This wine is atypically massive for this vintage. Muscular and structured, with huge fruit and richness, it was made from fully ripened fruit and an extremely late harvest. While it has softened in the bottle, this offering is still dominated by its truffle and blackberry jam aspects. (RP)" (02/1999)

Benjamin et David Duclaux "Coteaux du Tupin" Côte-Rôtie
2022 Benjamin et David Duclaux "Coteaux du Tupin" Côte-Rôtie

Dark red robe; there’s a good smoky strike on the nose, a plunge of cherry fruit, the crunch of stems, lots going on. This is brilliant: I am on criss-cross alert, crisp red fruits moving around, live energy tannins - it’s way to go Rôtie, super well organised and composed. There are spurs of length, good crunch and texture on the finale. It’s Très Grand. 6 stars!
