1990 Domaine de la Janasse "Cuvee Chaupin" Chateauneuf du Pape

Wine Advocate
Review Date: 08/2014Less expressive aromatically, yet richer and more concentrated, the 1990 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin sports a ruby/amber color to go with mature cherry, currants, licorice and olive-like aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied and layered, it opens up nicely in the glass and is a beautifully mature effort to drink over the coming couple of years. (JD)

Notes
Cuvée Chaupin is Domaine de la Janasse's old-vine Grenache bottling from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, separate from the estate's traditional blend. The Sabon family estate, based in Courthézon, is closely associated with sandy northern-sector parcels that have long defined this cuvée's place in the domaine's lineup.
