1966 Corbin Michotte, St-Émilion
Landing on our shelves on its 60th anniversary, I’m thrilled to say that Corbin Michotte’s 1966 is more than just a curiosity—it’s a solid, perfectly mature Bordeaux at a remarkable price. Corbin Michotte is a small property in St-Émilion, near the border with Pomerol, with a storied history dating back to the 1700s. This parcel was reconditioned in 2005, so the bottles are in consistently excellent condition—something you don’t often find with a wine of this age. We opened a bottle on arrival, and it was singing: gorgeous aromas of forest floor, truffle, florals, and deep red fruit, followed by flavors of red cherry skin and raspberry, with a long, savoury finish, perfectly evolved tannins, and wonderful texture. Clean, delicious, pure, and still lively, this is a beautiful tribute to well-aged Bordeaux from another era. To be able to deliver a wine like this, with such provenance at 60 years on, speaks volumes about the character and caliber of Bordeaux wines.

Notes
Led by the Boidron family since 1959, Château Corbin Michotte is a 14-hectare estate planted to roughly 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon on a mix of sand, clay and gravely soils. The wine is well recognized for its easy-drinking fruit-forward style. This stock is reconditioned at the Château in 2005.
