Michael Broadbent: "...drinking beautifully at 30 years of age: rich, soft, earthy, completely rounded - no sharp edges, a touch of Cheval Blanc iron (from the soil) on the finish but noted as à point...1978: a deep brick red double magnum, medium sweetness, soft, lovely, and a brown rimmed bottle with a 'calm' cedar-caramel nose, both colour and caramel anticipating a touch of decay...a fabulous bottle in its 40th year at Ziegler's tasting. I gave it 19/20. The following year a good but not flawless magnum at Wolf's vertical: more meaty, more chewy but refreshing. Last noted Sept 1997. At best 5 stars."
