1992 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Review Date: 12/1995All of the other current and up-coming releases are outstanding. The 1992 Cask 23 (as of November 16, there were still magnums and 750 ml. formats available at the winery) boasts a dense, black/ruby/purple color, and a knock-out bouquet of black fruits, smoke, chocolate, and licorice. Like all Cask 23's, it is exceedingly easy to drink, with a voluptuous texture, fabulously rich, expansive, sweet (from extract not sugar) flavors, and silky tannin in the finish. (RP)

Notes
92+ points, Neal Martin's Wine Journal: "This has a perfumed, cassis and blueberry nose. The palate is seamless and very harmonious, its richness belying the firm tannins underneath. Very complex, quite backward and tight even after 10-years. Long-term wine that needs time to show its flair. This may overtake the ’91 in time." (05/2009)
