1996 Stonestreet "Christopher's Vineyard" Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
92
Wine Advocate
Review Date: 12/1998The brilliant 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Christopher's Vineyard (previously called the Three Block Vineyard) is cut from the same mold as the 1995 Three Block Vineyard. It is a hedonistic, opaque purple-colored wine with gobs of toasty new oak, thrilling levels of extract, rich, chewy, black currant and blackberry fruit, impressive glycerin, sweet tannin, and a knock-out finish that must contain over 14% alcohol. Over 80% new French oak was utilized in this wine's up-bringing. There are 500 cases of this unfiltered beauty.

Firm for a '96, with earthy tannins and a tasty core of ripe plum, currant and cherry flavors accented by a touch of sage and spice. (JL)
