Smoky reduction blends with spice drawer, loganberries and rosebuds. A firm rod of acidity lights up the back palate, giving this an acid-driven structure for the moment. Yet the tannins are certainly present, with nicely corralled intensity. Deeply fleshy on the fullish-bodied palate, this has much to unfold and will benefit from at least six to seven years in bottle.

The 2024 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a little more cohesion on the nose compared to the Beaux Monts, well defined with slightly darker fruit. This certainly has its nose in front as I alternated between the two glasses. The palate is medium-bodied with quite an insistent grip on the entry. Less reduction in this cuvée, quite peppery towards the finish with a longer aftertaste. This Malconsorts should repay cellaring.(NM)

Note: from a 1.57 ha parcel. A brooding and reticent nose with its beautifully spicy and floral-suffused aromas of red currant and anise also flash pronounced exotic tea wisps. The rich, full-bodied and powerful larger-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density while exhibiting ample minerality on the delineated and imposingly structured but not really especially austere finale. This is first-rate and, at least today, is the best wine in the range though I underscore that ample patience will be necessary if you wish to see this beauty at its peak.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!&

Not so deep in colour, mid ruby, with torrefaction on the nose, a little less immediately opulent than usual. Very spicy at the finish, the stems are quite prominent here. Fortunately, the fruit returns behind. There should be more still to develop here. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2025.

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "“From the northern side of the vineyard, and for the detail-conscious, this contains a tiny amount of Les Gaudichots,” notes Jeremy. “It’s a vineyard that we have to think has a phenomenal quality possibility, so we always ask ourselves how will we reach that?”Another nose that’s been kissed by reduction, but clearly with an extra width to this aroma too. Super-wide, almost panoramic in the mouth – but with some cushion to the flavours too – velour in style – properly positioned vs their Echézeaux, maybe behind the CSD or BM, though time will tell. Bravo !!"(01/2026)
