Reviewed January 2026Smelling of a warm greenhouse, clapped mint and firepit smoke, sweet red fruits ease onto the palate. This is firm and introverted at the moment, but there are layers of fruits built into the mid-palate surrounded by classically silky Vosne tannins. This seems to be in an awkward place, but all of the elements are there for this to shine in a few years.

The 2024 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a light but pretty nose, rose hip and rose petal infusing the red fruit, although it does not possess the horsepower of the Grand Crus from Dujac due to the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins. Lovely balance and very nuanced, a Vosne-Romanée following the maxim of "less is more". It does hurry out of the exit door, that is to say there is not so much sustain here. This will be difficult to resist in its youth; however, alternating between this and the Aux Malconsorts, it just feels a bit fragile by comparison.(NM)
