In spite of the enormous concentration, this is barely medium-bodied and, at the finish, it floats off into the almost infinite distance. Enormous aging potential.

The 2023 Riesling Rüdesheimer Kaisersteinfels Grosses Gewächs is from one of the domaine’s most elevated parcels, high up on the Rüdesheimer Berg. The nose is shy but reveals fleeting glimpses of petrichor, chamomile crushed against a hot rock and dried lemon peel. The palate is concentrated, with vivid lemon notes, especially of peel and only a touch of pith. This is austere and stony but so beautifully persistent. (Bone-dry) (AK)
