2018 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru "Porusots"

The 2018 Poruzots chez Lafon is also outstanding, but not quite as expressive yet on the nose and palate as the stellar Goutte d’Or. With a bit of coaxing, the wine eventually reveals a superb bouquet of apple, passion fruit, complex, chalky soil tones, almond, a touch of iodine, vanillin oak and a touch of dried flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with an excellent core of fruit, lovely soil signature and great length and grip on the complex and beautifully balanced finish. This will take a couple more years in the bottle to properly blossom, but it will be outstanding. (Drink between 2025-2060)

Dominique notes that his Porusots has the power of the sector but with a much finer finish than the Goutte d’Or. It certainly delivers a more complete bouquet, with suavity and energy together. Crystalline precision here but still with waves of fruit. Very long again, and lots more to offer. Tasted Oct 2020.
