A solid red, with density to its texture, offering flavors that evoke cherry, currant, rose hip and almond. Flashes of eucalyptus, iron and tobacco peek through as this winds down on the long, vibrant aftertaste. Best from 2029 through 2048. (BS)

The dark red 2021 Barolo Del Comune Di Serralunga shows off a noble depth and Serralunga intensity, with ripe aromatics of kirsch, licorice candies, sappy crushed sage, and turned earth. The palate is ripe, with pure concentration, and retains lovely clarity within its more full-bodied frame without feeling weighty. It’s rounded and full, with ripe tannins, an even spine of acidity, and good length through the finish. It’s very nicely balanced, and while it’s very enjoyable to taste now, I anticipate this having a slow maturity if stored properly. It should drink well over the coming 12-15 years. (AF)
