An attractive nose, with orange peel, as well as the lavender and mint of a cooler vintage. Finely polished and sinewy on the palate, this presents a fine substance of pithy and bitter grip, a good cushion of amaroidal fruit partnered with fresh and biting acidity. This is a lively one! Drinking now, although it should be good over the next few years. The soils here are flint, with deeper limestone. The alcohol is 13% on the label, but the true figure is slightly lower on analysis.

The 2024 Les Romains highlights Vacheron’s mastery of silex-rich soils, sourced from one of Sancerre’s most distinctive terroirs where flint and limestone meet to produce Sauvignon Blanc of striking precision and mineral drive. The wine shows taut citrus, pear skin, and white flower aromatics layered with the smoky, gunflint edge that is the hallmark of this parcel. The palate is finely etched and energetic, with saline brightness and a firm, stone-infused spine that keeps the fruit focused and pure.
