von Winning Riesling Extra Brut Sekt Pfalz

von Winning is one of the Pfalz’s most highly regarded estates, based in Deidesheim and known for expressive, terroir-driven Rieslings made with a combination of traditional techniques and minimal intervention. Founded in the 19th century and a founding member of the VDP, the estate farms roughly 50 hectares across some of the Mittelhaardt’s finest vineyards. Particularly impressive is von Winning’s Sekt, which receives the same level of attention as its still wines. Made from 100% Riesling, in the traditional or Champagne method, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle, and they are aged for at least 36 months on their lees, giving them remarkable texture, depth and fine, persistent bubbles. The result is a Sekt that is considerably more serious and complex than its price might suggest.
