Reviewed January 2025Another old-vine cuvée produced from purchased fruit harvested by the Dugat-Py team, the 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Referts delivers aromas of pear, orange oil, nutmeg, white flowers and buttered toast. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's more textural than the Champ Gain, with an unctuous core of fruit and a saline finish.
Notes
This steep premier cru is from vines planted in 1970 and plowed by horse, whole cluster pressed into barrel where it stays on the lees for 18 to 20 months. It drinks like a junior version of the estate's Corton-Charlemagne, grown a few hundred meters upslope.
