Coming from a great valley floor site on the southern end of Oakville and aged 22 months in 75% new French oak, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper delivers darker fruit, crème de cassis, smoked tobacco, leafy herbs, espresso, and chocolate. It's full-bodied, pure, focused, and balanced, with ripe tannins and a great finish. I always find a certain Bordeaux-like character from this site, and this beauty has it in spades. It will shine for 20 years. Drink 2025-2045.

All Cabernet Sauvignon (Clones 4 and 337) from this southern Oakville site on the western side of the valley, Carte Blanche's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard easily combines ripe cherries with leather, gentle baking spices and hints of licorice and mocha. Medium- to full-bodied, this is lovely stuff, rich and velvety, without excess weight, and it possesses a long, echoing finish.

There is lovely depth and tension, with deep aromas of dark fruit, spices, wet stones, licorice and an undertone of slightly salty dried beef. The palate is full-bodied with melting tannins, bright acidity and a long, refined finish. Great detail and polish. Drink or hold.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard in Oakville, aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Produced by Helen Keplinger, with Atelier Melka taking over cellar responsibilities beginning in 2024. Full, rich and decidedly meaty, this wine shows robust tannins and a savoury mix of dried fennel and cumin spice. Bold black-fruit notes are layered across the full-bodied palate, gaining depth and warmth as the wine opens. Dried violets lift the brighter edges of the finish, adding refinement to the wine’s powerful frame.
