2025 Château Coujan "Les Terrasses" Pays d'Hérault Rouge (Natural Wine)

Château Coujan is a fifth-generation family estate near Saint-Chinian, owned by the Guy family since 1868 and now run by Florence Guy. Florence converted the domaine to organic farming in 2008, and today the 140-hectare property is a remarkable patchwork of vineyards, orchards, olive trees and Mediterranean scrubland. The vineyards sit around 140 meters in elevation on clay-limestone slopes with sandstone pebbles over fossilized coral, a distinctive and well-draining terroir. Les Terrasses is one of Coujan’s most immediately approachable reds, an unusual blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Syrah. The grapes are destemmed and given a short maceration with fermentation at a cool 17-18°C, emphasizing freshness and fruit rather than extraction. The result is light, juicy and energetic, with bright red fruit, gentle spice and an easygoing freshness.
