Wine Advocate

Reviewed June 2024
The 2022 Pinot Noir offers a fascinating, deep, pure, savory and flinty, quite ethereal bouquet of dark berries and Morello cherries. Remarkably pure yet intense on the palate, this is a dense, lush and spicy Pinot with fine tannins and a beautiful tartness and bitterness on the finish. This elegant, beautifully airy and finessed Pinot has great intensity and even more purity. (SR)

Notes

Robert Parker for the Wine Advocate: "The Gantenbein Pinot Noir has been so oversubscribed for years that every buyer in Switzerland can only purchase a maximum of three bottles of the current 2022, not from the winery but in stores. The winery is inaccessible to visitors because there is nothing to buy here anyway, neither the Pinot nor the sensational Chardonnay (from 1.2 hectare), which must be considered at least as good as the Pinot. The 2022 is a sensation because it combines ripe fruit and generous fullness with unyielding vitality that comes from the soil, which is partly located in Malans. This part seems to lend the wine a tension or drama that is not usually found in Fläsch, which is better known for its silky elegance." (06/2024)
