Notes
Founded in 1969, Mount Langi Ghiran is one of Australia’s pioneering producers of cool-climate Shiraz, tucked into the dramatic landscape of Victoria’s remote Grampians region. The estate’s high-elevation vineyards, ancient granite soils and long, slow growing season create Shiraz with remarkable fragrance, freshness and the peppery spice that has become the hallmark of the region. The winery’s reputation was established in large part by legendary winemaker Trevor Mast, who championed a more elegant, savory style of Australian Shiraz at a time when richer, more powerful wines dominated the conversation. Today, Mount Langi Ghiran continues that legacy while producing a range of wines that showcase the distinctive character of cool-climate Victoria. Billi Billi Shiraz offers an especially approachable introduction to the Langi style, drawing fruit from a selection of premium cool-climate vineyards throughout Victoria, predominantly in the Grampians, with a portion coming directly from the Mount Langi Ghiran estate vineyards. It is bright and youthful, combining red and black berry fruit. The result is a Shiraz with plenty of flavor and character but also the freshness and restraint that make Mount Langi Ghiran such a compelling expression of Australian cool-climate Shiraz.
