A strikingly spicy, ripe and quite densely fruited nose speaks of earth, smoke, red currant liqueur and black berries while sliding gracefully into rich, generous and sappy medium weight flavors that possess a beguiling mouth feel on the impressively intense and long finish. Good medium red. Pungent, demonstrative aromas of raspberry, spicy oak, minerals, pepper and bitter chocolate. Sweet and creamy in the mouth, but with a firm mineral spine and vibrant spice character keeping the flavors fresh. Tightens up considerably on the back end, finishing with notes of raspberry and white pepper.(ST)
