The 2023 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett offers a discreet and delicate nose of ripe, finely concentrated fruit intertwined with delicate notes of crushed red slate. Very elegant and filigreed on the palate, this is a very delicate, round and charming Würzgarten Kabinett with a stimulating, crystalline and finely saline finish. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Selbach-Oster in January 2026. Following the death of the Merkelbach brothers within a few years of each other, Johannes Selbach took over the vineyards Ürziger Würzgarten and Kinheimer Rosenberg for the Selbach-Oster winery and is continuing the brand, particularly in the USA, that was established by the two legends. The wines are matured at the Selbach winery in Ürzig. Selbach has produced excellent 2023 Rieslings for the Merkelbach label, especially the fruit-sweet Spätlesen and Auslesen from the two crus.
