Note: from En Charlemagne in Pernand. A discreet application of wood sets off the beautifully layered array of white peach, petrol, lemon zest and wet stone scents. Once again there is excellent richness and volume to the focused and overtly muscular medium weight flavors that exhibit a fine bead of minerality on the beautifully long finale that already offers excellent depth. This powerful effort is extremely promising and should age accordingly.

There are only four barrels of Corton-Charlemagne in the Chartron cellars this year, so his 2024 will be raised in twenty-five percent new oak. The wine is excellent on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet offering up a fine blend of pear, apple, chalky minerality, lime blossoms, a nice touch of crème pâtissière, limestone minerality, white lilies and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine the wine is deep, full-bodied and still a touch reductive today (this is still in cask and has not yet been racked), with a beautiful core of fruit, bright acids, great mineral drive and grip and superb length on the beautifully balanced, young finish. All this needs is time. (Drink between 2030-2065)

There is a fresh green stripe in the colour. Lean and stony, not much flesh at this stage. A fine linear Corton-Charlemagne, a little bit of bacon fat, more stones than fruit otherwise, with a long finish. Four barrels made, including one from the domaine. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2025.
