Reviewed March 2026Duckhorn's Oakville-appellated Cabernet Sauvignon spent 16 months ageing in French oak (65% new). It is positively inviting from the black-fruited nose, tinged with Oakville garrigue, a bit of bright earth and black truffle character, to the juicy, medium- to full-bodied palate. A gentle framing of tannin makes plenty of room for a plethora of juicy, vivid, delicious darkberry fruit tinged with notes of licorice, dark chocolate, and fine oak, displaying great equilibrium and depth. The depth and complexity is quite impressive. Aromas of black currants, river stones, blood plums, bitter chocolate and blackberries. The palate is refined and pure, with a full-bodied mouthfeel, no hard edges and an austere, minerally and fruity finish. There’s a soft touch from the cool vintage. Sophisticated. Drink or hold. (RM)
