Reviewed January 2026The 2024 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was taken from barrel, of which there are three this year. This had a bit of reduction on the nose, though you can tell there is a lot of power coiled up in this Bâtard. The palate has a sublime balance, the oak beautifully integrated, pinpoint acidity with quite a spicy, almost peppery finish that lingers long in the mouth and doesn't disappear for over a minute. It just seems to gain majesty the more I keep going back to my glass and I am completely entranced. An exquisitely cut diamond.(NM)

2 x 350-litre barrels, one and two year old wood. Not yet racked. Glowing mid lemon in colour. A good supporting role from the oak, with some nicely ripe fruit but in no way over opulent. The body builds to the back, very little reduction here, a fair weight of white fruit flesh, with some juicy herbal notes as well. Very satisfying while staying discreet. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2025.

Note: from a .1464-ha parcel on the Puligny side planted to the equivalent of a 15,000 vines per hectare density; the wine sees no new wood and is aged in 1 and 2-year-old 350-liter barrels. Firm reduction again holds serve against the fruit. There is though excellent freshness and power to the larger-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that possess good if not special density before culminating in a superbly long, well-balanced and sleek finish. This is packed with development potential and is a wine that should amply repay an investment of 8 to 12 years of cellaring.
