I always love the Pinot Noir Summa Old Vines, and the 2022 is no exception. It’s a touch more reserved on opening at this stage, but it’s bright and layered on the nose, revealing notes of kirsch, fresh rosemary, and wildflowers. It’s elegant as well as mouthwatering on the sides of the palate, but it has more energy and length, with a bit more tension, and is going to need time in cellar. (AF) 98+

The 2022 Pinot Noir Summa Old Vines is the most reticent of these Pinots. Readers will have to be patient with the 2022, as it needs a ton of time. Savory and floral notes open, but with great reticence. Deceptive in its medium-bodied structure, the 2022 has a lot going on. Time releases the aromatics nicely. I checked in on this a day after opening, and it had only budged slightly. The purity of the fruit and the overall balance are both first-rate all the way. (AG) 95+

A long, beguiling display of raspberry, mulberry and blood orange coulis notes unfurls steadily, showing off rooibos tea, savory and mineral accents along the way. This lovely red offers the warmth of the vintage but stays refined and fresh through the finish, with its mineral note echoing amid the fruit. (JM)
