Reviewed January 2026Mid lemon yellow. An immediate weight of fruit appears, albeit still in the relatively restrained Thomas Morey style. An intense linear backbone, while all the fruit weight seems as if it has barely unfolded. Some lime notes in the citrus, a 2024 which seems just ripe yet retains all the intensity you could want. Long and ultimately refreshing. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2025.

Note: from 3 parcels measuring .1914 ha on the Chassagne side; 2 of the parcels measuring .1027 ha are owned and the third is leased. Here too there is a large panoply of floral nuances that include rose petal, lilac, honeysuckle and acacia blossom that display additional notes of citrus confit, spice and green apple. There is almost painful intensity to the concentrated and gorgeously textured larger-bodied flavors that that conclude in a powerful, youthfully austere and hugely long finale. This compact and robust, yet refined, Bâtard is very much built-to-age but one that should be more than worth the wait. If you can find it, buy it.*Burghound Don't Miss!*
