Like the Chassagne villages, this is also reduced but more heavily. The sleeker, but not denser, flavors possess a finer texture before concluding in a moderately austere finale that also comes up somewhat short. Once again, I suspect that the recent bottling is responsible for the absence of real persistence.

The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St.-Jean 1er Cru (Rouge) has a little more purity on the nose compared to the Morgeot, well defined with scents of wild strawberry, red cherries and a touch of limestone. The palate is a little softer on the entry. Fine acidity, quite structured though it does feel a bit abrupt on the finish.(NM)
