Reviewed January 2026In bottle. His plots in Les Chaumes and Chambres have been assembled in 2024 and again in 2025 because of the small crops, and the blend works well he thinks. Chaumes has 60 year old vigorous vines, Chambres is pinot fin, 15-year-old. A deepish crimson ruby colour. The fruit is altogether fresher than the Bourgogne. A fine even crunch to the finish, the pinot fin takes over at the back, to make a really pretty red Chassagne. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Oct 2025.

Here too the nose is mildly reduced so giving this a quick aeration should help. The delicious, succulent and vibrant middle weight flavors offer an attractive texture though the otherwise balanced finale comes up somewhat short. Between the nose and the finish, I suspect that the recent bottling has upset the overall sense of harmony.

This year, the 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Village (Rouge) has been produced, a blend of Les Chambres and Les Chaumes, which are usually bottled separately. It has a light bouquet with brambly red fruit, blackberry and a touch of sea spray. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, moderate depth but quite austere on the finish. I will be prudent with my score for now.(NM)
