Wine Spectator
Reviewed October 2002Dark, rich and concentrated, with beautifully defined and ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit. Gains intensity and shows a firm wall of tannins on the finish, but they're ripe and plush, letting the fruit push forward. Needs cellaring. (JL)

Int'l Wine Cellar
Good saturated medium ruby. Aromas of crystallized dark berries, minerals, espresso, bitter chocolate, pepper and spices. Dense and ripe but tightly coiled, in the style of the best '99s. Primary black fruit and shoe polish flavors supported by powerful spine. Big, palate-coating tannins reach the molars. This should repay eight to ten years of cellaring. Another California Cabernet that's beginning to look like a relative value in today's marketplace. (ST) 92+

Wine Advocate
The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot; 1,400 cases) possesses an opaque purple color, loads of tannin, and a big, structured, beefy style with intense, concentrated, highly extracted black fruits intermixed with cedar, plum, coffee, and leather characteristics. Although not the most succulent Seavey Cabernet, and less successful than such vintages as 1997, 1995, and 1994, it is loaded, and the tannin is not excessive when compared to the fruit level. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020. (RP)
