2023 Domaine Joseph Roty Marsannay Rouge

The regular Marsannay bottling from Jean-Pierre Roty is raised in thirty-five percent new oak. The 2023 version is very good indeed, delivering a fine nose of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, coffee bean, a fine base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke and a nice touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, complex and full-bodied, with fine depth of fruit at the core, good soil undertow and grip, ripe tannins and a long, well balanced and promising finish. All this bottle needs is time in the cellar to soften up properly. (Drink between 2031-2065)
