The regular bottling of Gevrey villages from Domaine Roty is a fine example in 2023. The aromatic constellation offers up scents of black cherries, dark berries, grilled meats, dark chocolate, bonfire, a fine base of soil and a nice touch of nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and quite elegant in profile, with a lovely core, fine soil undertow and grip, fairly moderate tannins and a long, well balanced finish. Good juice. (Drink between 2030-2060)

Mid crimson. This has a succulence currently missing from the 2024. A lighter red fruit, quite expressive, still with a tightness of structure. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has an elegant and refined bouquet with perfumed cranberry and wild strawberry fruit, one that gains vigour in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, a lovely juicy core of black and red fruit that disguises the firm structure behind it. Very classy winemaking here, and it will give a decade of drinking pleasure.(NM)

Note: from La Platière, Les Crais, Charreux, Puits de la Barraque and Champerrier du Bas. A slightly cooler and definitely more sauvage-suffused nose reflects notes of both red and dark pinot fruit and pungent humus-tinged earth. The attractively textured if not especially dense middle weight flavors possess solid punch that carries over to the nicely detailed and sneaky long finish that is also firm but a bit less rustic. Worth considering.*Burghound Outstanding!*
