Reviewed November 2024Like a racing spinnaker, this is tightly trimmed yet voluminous in character. Toasty notes of roasted almond and vanilla wafer are deftly integrated with sun-dried black cherry, baked peach, blood orange sorbet and candied ginger flavors, all well-defined by racy acidity and a subtle streak of salinity. This is long and fragrant, with pain d'épices, graphite and tea rose notes playing on the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged February 2024. Drink now through 2040. (AN)

Disgorged in February 2024 with a dosage of seven grams per liter, Bollinger's 2015 La Grande Année Rosé is showing very well, delivering notes of blood orange, cowberry and brioche mingled with nectarine stone. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is muscular yet racy, with a crisp core of fruit animated by a pillowy mousse and framed by structuring extract that leads into a long, saline finish. Whereas many large-house rosés today tend to exhibit a cloying mid-palate sweetness, this cuvée avoids the trap and comes warmly recommended. (KK)

This elegant, medium-bodied rosé includes select plots of pinot noir from the Cote Aux Enfants vineyard. It shows a medium orange-amber color, dark cherry-skin and candied-plum aromas followed by vivid strawberry and blood-orange flavors. Marked by finesse, light but very flavorful, complex and layered. Pouring a bright but pale pink color, the 2015 Champagne La Grande Annee Brut Rosé is a very pretty vintage on the nose, with notes of raspberries and blood orange. Ripe and juicy but with a bitter citrus flavor, it has a hint of cinnamon spice and lifts with notes of ripe strawberries and raspberries, along with a fruity mousse and a clean finish. It’s juicy and inviting yet has the underlying structure and tension of a refined and rounded mousse, with a mouthful of playful juiciness. The dosage is 6 grams per liter. Drink over the coming 15-20 years, but wow, it's drinking great now. (AF)
