Reviewed July 2020Fruit for the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville was picked two days before the fires in 2017—a prescient choice that resulted in a beautiful wine. The nose offers Morello cherries and bright pops of red berry fruit with notes of graphite, cedar and violets. The full-bodied palate is lushly fruited, ripe and finely grained, with fantastic juicy character and a finish that continues to blossom for some time. This is appealing now but will age well in bottle. (EB)

Well-defined raspberry and blackberry compote flavors form the core, with bright violet and anise notes along the edges and a roasted apple wood spine holding all the elements together. Approachable now, but should gain some nuance with moderate cellaring. Drink now through 2030. (JM)

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville offers more freshness and purity, with lots of blue and black fruits, tobacco, cedary herbs, and tobacco aromas and flavors. Another plump, sexy wine from this team, it has sweet tannin, an expansive, mouthfilling texture, and a good finish. Drink it over the coming 10-12 years or so.
