The small Graveside Vineyard is situated in St Helena near White Sulphur Springs Creek. The site sits adjacent to David Abreu’s Capella Vineyard, with Beckstoffer Las Piedras and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane close by. In 2022, Vida Valiente took over the entire vineyard lease, and winemaker Sam Kaplan aged the resulting wine for 24 months in 100% new French oak. In 2023, the wine is impressively polished and expressive, head and shoulders above the 2022, with blue and black fruit tones, subtle dark chocolate notes, and compact blue fruit layered with brown baking spice. Super-velvety tannins are perfectly integrated already. (JC)

Grown on rocks and sand, this shows a reductive edge with dense, brooding black fruit, spices, licorice and crushed stones, complemented by a savory, earthy undertone that’s intense and pure.
