Opaque ruby. Spice-tinged dark berry, cherry and pipe tobacco scents are complemented by suggestions of mocha and allspice. Blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors show very good depth and a subtle touch of candied licorice. The spiciness builds on the long, sappy finish, which features pliant tannins and a sweet, lingering touch of vanilla. (JR)
