The 2023 Pinot Noir Maxem Estate Vineyard comes from Maxem’s new estate vineyard; 2023 was the first harvest from the site. Grapes were picked on October 9, and the wine matured for 15 months in around 80% new French oak. It’s an impressive debut, opening with aromas of pomegranate, blackberry, charcuterie and forest floor that pour from the glass. The palate is luxurious, with extraordinarily silky tannins and vibrant acidity. Its concentrated flavors are highly detailed, and it has a very long, layered finish. (EB)
