This is a delicious and beautifully structured Sauvignon Blanc with 6% Sémillon from 2020 by winemaker Sam Kaplan. It’s fresh and inviting with aromatic citrus and nutty aromas leading to a medium-bodied white wine with a beautiful mid-palate weight and depth of candied citrus flavours framed by zesty acidity and jasmine florals tinged with honeysuckle. It’s all too easy to drink and strikes a perfect balance of creaminess from 11 months sur-lie in concrete egg and portions aged in new and used French oak. Aged fully 18 months in the bottle before release. (JC)

A blend of 94% Sauvignon Blanc and 6% Semillon, the 2020 Arkenstone Estate Sauvignon Blanc rolls out with rambunctious notes of juicy peaches, pineapple, and passion fruit, leading to suggestions of honeycomb, coriander seed, and orange blossoms. Arkenstone's 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Estate includes 6% Sémillon, a proportion that varies from vintage to vintage. It's primarily barrel-fermented and aged in a mix of new and used wood, although there's a concrete-egg component as well. The result is a delightful mix of pineapple, fig, melon and grapefruit, accented by slightly pungent, boxwood-y notes. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a gentle creaminess to the texture, and it has a long, balanced finish. Impressive stuff. (JC)
