Reviewed August 2025Deep purple/plum-hued and based on 80% Syrah, 15% Grenache, and 5% Carignan, aged 22 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (50% new), the 2022 Centauri reveals darker berries, juicy plum, ground pepper, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and concentrated, it has building, polished tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. This beautifully done, classy Syrah will drink well over the coming decade. Drink 2025-2035.

The 2022 Centauri smolders up with an earthy blend of crushed blackberries, burnt orange and savory herbs. A lovely inner sweetness emerges, complemented by soothingly round textures as lavender-laced wild berry fruits settle on the senses. Cocoa and spice lend a pleasantly bitter tinge, while the finish is gently tannic yet wickedly fresh.

If utter extraction of dark, powerful fruit was the goal here, consider it achieved. This blend of 80% Syrah, 15% Grenache and 5% Carignan is opaque and thick in the glass, showing aromas of cassis, cocoa, violet and graphite. The palate is lavish with more cassis as well as coffee cream flavors.
