Lighter-bodied than most of today's Nebbiolos from the Langhe, it's filled with personality, doling out ripe Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, candied orange zest and white pepper before a white almond finish. Giuseppe Vaira crafts this unique bottling as a direct homage to the historic, lighter wine style of the 17th century described by Thomas Jefferson (hence the "JC"), using a portion of whole-cluster grapes ($\sim 20\%$) and handling the fruit with an ultra-short maceration in stainless steel. This technique successfully captures a fresh, bouncy energy that is intentionally kept raw and entirely free from heavy oak makeup.
