The 2025 Scharzhofberger Kabinett is an assemblage of several parcels and opens with a gorgeous bouquet of perfectly ripe mangos intertwined with gently flinty notes of crushed slate, fresh woodruff and blueberry leaves. Light but mouth-filling, this is an enormously saline, terroir-driven and filigreed yet intense Kabinett with a still-youthful astringency on the palate. This is a Kabinett that needs more time to develop than the delicate Le Gallais Braune Kupp Kabinett. (SR)

The 2025 Riesling Scharzhofberger Kabinett beguiles with a citrus scent that already breaks through the customary reduction on the nose. The palate, right away, is alive, is full of citrus charm, opens its arms, ready to embrace you and sweep you off in lively, dizzying polka turns all across this slate slope. Something incredibly joyous, light-footed and bright enlivens this wine. Yet its fruit draws from a deep, stony well. Lemony length is gorgeous, zesty. (Medium) (AK)

94 points, Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2025er Scharzhofberger Kabinett, as it is referred to on the label, is a fruity-styled wine with a still slightly reduced nose with, at this stage, only faint scents of white flower, white peach, whipped cream, mint, ginger, and smoke. It reveals succulent flavors of pear, apple, mint, chalky elements, and fine spices on the delicately creamy, superbly zesty and above all beautifully detailed palate. The finish is superbly long with a dash of apricot blossom adding depth to the experience."
