The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru contains 30% whole cluster like the previous year. It was one of the shy wines at the beginning of barrel aging, according to head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. Those stems add another dimension to the bouquet: dark berry fruit, hints of pepper and freshly rolled tobacco blossom in the glass with impressive vigor. The palate is ravishing and succulent on the entry with filigreed tannins, a keen line of acidity—perhaps the purest of all of Jadot's red cuvées—and just the right amount of lushness on the finish. There's structure here, but it is cloaked in gorgeous fruit. Bon vin!(NM)

Upfront and peppy, the aromas offer bramble and savory spice. The palate layers on sumptuously ripe fruits, latticed tannins and properly supportive acidity. Distinguished, even aristocratic, this has enticing extract that clings to the palate through the satisfying, plum-dotted finish. Jadot's 30 ares of vines sit in both red and white soils and extend from the top to the bottom of the slope.

Tightly wound and underlined by dense tannins, this red requires patience before it’s possible to fully appreciate its core of cherry, blackberry, blueberry and spice flavors. Black pepper and stone elements peek through on the aftertaste, which is persistent and firm. Shows restrained power. Best from 2030 through 2048.—B.S.

The 2023 Bonnes-Mares from Jadot feels substantial and structured, entirely in keeping with the nature of the climat. The wine boasts a fairly deep ruby colour and a fragrant and forward aroma that spans ripe black and red fruit, earth and savoury notes, and a hint of spice. The aromas are complex, but the wine is not giving up all of its secrets at once – one will have to wait. The grapes are from a 0.27 hectare parcel acquired in 1985 from Clair-Daü. As with the Amoureuses from the same source, a portion of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters.(CC)
